AVN5500 updated DVD in AVN5435

Does anybody know if the updated AVN5500 disc will work in an AVN5435?

If so, will a burnt DVD copy work?

And if it does work, may I buy a burnt copy from someone? =D

I'd be interested in this too. I noticed that there's a new 2006 nav update DVD out for the AVN 5435 on Eclipse's website. I wonder if it's the same disc used in the AVN 5500.
 
Yes, cardomain.com has a whole bunch of Eclipse items. They sell the udpated DVD (Eclipse MDV-06D) for $330!

I wonder if the AVN5500 DVD will even work with the AVN5435?

Can anybody confirm this?
 
good news, i've been able to make a copy of the 2006 v1.3 North America disc to work flawlessly :-) pm me if u want to

I wonder if anyone has other area discs ( south america , asia, europe ?)
 
i read in another thread that the stock toyota nav DVD and the eclipse AVN5500 DVD are interchangeable and will work in each other.

So does that mean that DENSO = FUJITSU TEN = ECLIPSE?

I know that FUJITSU TEN = ECLIPSE, but I thought DENSO is the compnay that made the stock toyota nav unit.

I have tried the Toyota factory Nav DVD on the 2005 Camry with my Eclipse AVN2454 and it is working fine on my Eclipse. The only thing that I cannot use on my Eclipse is the ability to search by phone number like the factory nav can.
 
Well thats good news. I think if the updated disc could work on the older AVN5435, this will virtually make the two systems (AVN5500 and AVN5435) equals.

According to the website, the updated disc selling for $330 will give AVN5435 users the Street Map featues and new wallpaper options. SWEET! I can't wait to see if it'd work.

NEW Eclipse MDV-06D

I have a AVN6600 disc and the newly release Eclipse MDV-06D disc.


THE MDV-06D disc includes the following:

There is a firmware update. MP3 discs seem to load a tad faster and the text on the song buttons has changed. It uses upper and lower case letters and now seperates the words rather than running them all together. (its easier to identify the songs now).

It has a new welcome or splash screen that looks better.

The map resolution is down to 75ft on MAJOR Metropolitan area.

It re-arranged the buttons on my "source" screen - moving the Sirius button up.

There are more POI but that's for the entire US.

The map said it was compiled 2004. I compared some streets that were not available on the ver 1.2 and is on the new disc.
 
I just tried the AVN 5500 disc made by nyc4runnin in my AVN 5435 and it doesn't seem to work. The maps seem to load but I can't choose which region from the nav menu and that prevents me from searching by POI or address. I also tried using the "hidden" menu trick to get to the "Loading" option, but that also could not recognize the disc. I'm thinking I need to get that to work to load the latest firmware from the disc, but so far I can't get it to work. I guess I'll have to get the official update disc made specifically for the 5435.
 
Crap! That probably means my $xx I paid to get a copy went down the drains as well.

I heard the updated AVN5435 disc has some nice features though. Improved MP3 functionality (speed, filenames, etc.) and better mappying features.
 
I have the AVN6600 disc and MDV-06D both works on the AVN5435 as I have tested on the AVN5435.

i think i'll try disconnect the battery cable and connect it again to reset the eclipse then reload the disc.
 
v1.3 (AVN5500) DVD

I just got my disc from nyc4runnin today in the mail as well. I popped it in and although it took a while, it did read it. I looked it up and it said v1.3 DVD map disc. So thats good. I think I also need to disconnect the power, or at least take out the fuse reset the stereo. Anyone know which fuse?

v1.2 was what came with AVN5435 originally. v1.3 comes with AVN5500. and v1.4 is what is being sold separately.

Also, another question, does anyone know if v1.4 software will upgrade the Ipod functionality of AVN5435. If it does, I'm in for sure!

Are you able to search by POI or select a specific region from the Navi menu? The actual maps show up for me but I can't do any searches. I can also see that mine says version 1.3 under "Map DVD", so it is reading the disc.
