AWD Runner?

A few weeks ago I had my runner smogged, it is a 4WD Model, When the Tech put it on the dyno it would try to pull itself out with the front wheels. I know that the 4WD was turned off and the differential was not locked (which shouldn't have anything to do with it anyways). Could it have been ATRAC? Any other ideas? Has anyone else had this happen to them?

P.S. It's an 01' if anyone wants to know

i know the 01-02 all models and i think it was 99 + Limiteds had more of an AWD system than a true 4WD system ... one of the sites that has all the year to year changes explains it, sorry i don't know the link off the top of my head.

You probably had the part time 4wd engaged and wasn't in true 4wd.
All 4 Runners have true 4wd drive but only the Limiteds in '99-'00 and the ''01-'02s had the system offered on the SR5 models along with the Limiteds.

Do you know of any way to disable the Part time 4WD?
