Back door replacement shocks?

With the BR ladder installed on the rear door to get access to my roof rack, I've noticed that the door can't hold itself open during cold weather conditions with the factory shocks. I'm guessing I'll need to get beefier shocks for the door, but I'm not sure what's out there or what it will take to replace these myself.

Has anyone else done this before?

Once it warms up outside the shocks should still hold it. I had the same problem when it was cold outside.

Use the forum search and you will find the best struts for use with a ladder. (HINT: OEM will not hold it)
Lots of first hand experience within the threads a well.

Factory shocks aren’t the best for holding a heavy ladder. Stronger replacement shocks are available and are super easy to install. I don’t recall which ones I bought. I searched this forum and found a thread that recommended the part and place to buy them.

SKU 6156 and asked them to put 10mm straight ends. Increased pounds to pull down from 16 to 24 pounds

They are the same spec that GOBI sells for less than half what GOBI charges
