Back in a 4Runner

Ater ditching my Y2K silver Highlander with 112K for a 2007 VW Touareg with the 4.2 V8 I regretted it for years and have kept an eye out for another T4R. Well I found one. 2002 Sunfire Red Pearl sport package with 84K. This forum has served me well over the years and its good to be back.

wow :bravo: very clean. As we all love getting a feel for the market mind letting us know what it set you back?

Great find, i absolutely love that colour

Thanks guys, I am excited to be back in one and especially one in such good condition. Jc12, I paid $9,000 for it and I would have paid more. I had two sales fall through prior to this one and didn't want that to happen again (one was a 98 Highlander locked w/ 5spd, 135K for $5000, AND two sets of FJ wheels, yikes).

I have also done another $1300 in maintenance just making sure everything is in order. I have some basic plans for mods but nothing too crazy. I wont go off road too much other than to access some mountain bike trails and some very melo Moab trails. Just as I waited for this T4R to come along I will wait to find a good deal on some factory FJ or 4Runner TE wheels/tires, Tundra brakes, and some sort of suspension lift (so many options). It would be awesome to score some of the new TRD Pro wheels when they become available.

What a score! There's like virtually no apparent wear/tear in the interior.

I was searching like a lunatic for this trim level in decent condition for two months straight, but to no avail. I settled on an '01 Imperial Jade' with the 'big boy' painted wheel flares and hood scoop, which is close enough to the highly coveted 'Sport Edition' trim.

About time for an update!

14' TE wheels

Spidertrax spacers

Cheapie rough country lift (not bad actually but still somewhat temporary)

Weather techs front to back

Tundra brake upgrade

TRD emblems

SQR Satoshi grill with badge from 90' 4Runner (plan on painting)

Future plans:
Toytec coil overs
Tires (KO2's preferably)

It's just my opinion but that truck looks better stock. It's beautiful.

I think it's the grill that's throwing it off. Personally I think those painted sport grills are some of the best looking for a third gen. Also needs meatier tires to go with those nice wheels!

Still a beautiful truck OP!

This. If I had that truck stock, it would stay stock. Even the running boards. It looked to have been the pinnacle of 3rd gens.

Maybe some 99 talls & 32's. Then leave it.

You guys are crazy, if anyone wanted to leave these things stock, they wouldn't be on this forum. New tires are on the short list. Agreed on the grill, it looks off (planning on painting it).

That's why I only said the part about the grill. I know if that one was mine I'd be dreaming up all sorts of stuff to do to it. I couldn't leave it stock either.

Agreed. After having it for two years and combing through every nook and cranny of this thing I have found it is not as pristine as I thought it was when I bought it. There's a lot of imperfections in the paint that you can't see in the photos (mostly just wear and tear).

Side note, just rolled over 100K a couple weeks ago. Kind of bitter sweet I guess.
