Back to a 4Runner, maybe... & Tire size don't hate

So, I had a 4thGen-v8, then a 2013 5th Gen 4runner with an Icon stage one suspension. Have had a few vehicles since then, currently in Ram2500 diesel, but don't need something this big in traffic, or maintenance that comes with diesel.

Simple question (no hate please), it looks like the body work on later 5th Gens (2020) would accommodate larger tires with less body work than my 2013? Or is there really any difference?

Guess it doesn't matter, since I would prob. just do another 3" coil-over, but I was curious what you all have found.

there are a number of variables to take in consideration:

lift height
tire size
wheel offset

you're going to get different answer from different people with different setups.

I had BMC done as a precaution before getting 33s, remolded and pushed fender liner forward, and I recently did my pinch welds. I have a 2013 Trail with ~2.5" lift up front with 34s (now) on 17x8.5 -10 and I still rub on occasion

thanks, my last one did the fender mod, and a 3" ICON, the newer ones ( post 2017?) look like the fenders have more room, but may not be any diff. Thanks for the response

I don't think the fender openings are any different. Might just be a visual thing due to the different shape of the later 5th gen's front bumper. The place they're most likely to rub on is the frame and body mount, and those are the same for all 5th gen's.

There's no difference from the 2010-13 models to current models outside of the slight variations from vehicle to vehicle. I've been running 10 ply 285/70R17 for 3 years with heavy offroad use, no BMC, and have zero rubbing as long as my alignment is within spec.

I don't plan to do the BMC until i bump up to 35's and 4.56 gears. I have however now done a viper cut, inner fender liner removal, so there isn't much left to rub up front, just the body mount and fender liner in the back.
