Back to the 4Runner

OK...used to own a 2004 V6. Currently have a 2011 DC Tacoma TRD...turns out I'll probably be going back to the 4Runner. So, I'm back to researching and I've been out of the loop.

I search for V8, and I get nothing. Maybe I just suck at it? But just getting your thoughts on both. I've you tubed some videos and the V8 sounds outstanding.

I'm going for longevity here. I think I read somewhere else there is a timing belt with the V8. What is the cost on that, and what are the intervals for changing?

when looking for a 4runner i would go with mcgeorge toyota. they do a good job of finding a 4runner for you. although i got my 4runner from a dodge dealer, mcgeorge toyota called me within 2 days with a truck that fit my needs. i would of bought from them but they were a day late

Yeah.....I've always dealt with them. Bought both of my Tacomas from them and our Sienna. But I'm not sure they will want to search an older 4th gen say like a '04 or '05. That's what I'm looking for.

The 05 got VVTI. I drove them and didn't notice a huge difference over my 03 V8 (non VVTI).

If there's a CarMax in your area look there too. I'm in Atlanta and my truck was a North Carolina and the transferred it for free. It took I think 2-3 days for it to get here. And if they transfer it and you don't like it, you are not oboglibated to buy it. The specs of mine when I bought it:
2003 Toyoya 4Runner SR5 V8 2WD
Natural White exterior w/ cladding
16" Steel/ Alloy Wheels
55,777 miles
Didn't have a door ding or a stain, Ran (and still does) run perfect, just needs spark plugs.
They were asking 15,748 and well I was tired of looking and I thought it was a pretty fair price for the condition and mileage, so I bought it then. Drove it off the lot October 3Rd, 2011 9:36 PM. Lovin it ever since!

Check for the usual with these trucks, frozen calipers, cracked manifolds (V8 only), rust, and that's about all I can't remember.
