Simple example: suppose you forgot someone's birthday. Rather than sending a note of apology, you could backdate the e-mail. They would suspect that the e-mail got delayed rather than knowing you forgot, so they wouldn't be mad at you.
 
This is a great way to kill someone, then go back and email someone else at that exact time so that you have an alibi. :)

The e-flux shit is too darn cool!
 
Of course, this was an April Fool's Day joke from Google (in case the e-flux capacitor wasn't enough of a hint).
