Backspacing on 2011 tacoma trd wheels

Found a really good deal on some black 2011 tacoma trd wheels (16"). Good deal (tires included) really close to me. I'm worried about the wheels being too far set into the truck (since I've been told they have more backspacing). Should this be an issue? They've got average sized tires (245/75/16) and I assume it'll fit fine. I'm not planning on putting any 285's or anything on. I'm rocking 225's right now, so I assume it won't give it a narrower stance than I already have! hahah. Quick replies would be awesome, I'd really like to go buy them tonight! :wink2:

If the back spacing is close to 5", you'll run into rubbing issues. To correct that, you'd need to get some wheel spacers.
 
If they're a good deal get them. I don't remember if they require spacers, might need them. But even if they do and you don't want spacers you could sell them here and recoup any money you'd have into them, if not profit.
 
Bought em! They literally have brand new tires on them and the wheels look SICK in black. I don't think they'll need spacers but we'll see when I get them put on tomorrow. Thanks for the help, guys!
 
Can I use the same lug nuts? I'm planning on taking the old ones off and putting the new ones on tomorrow morning. Should I do anything different that when I put on a spare? I assume the tires are balanced but I don't know for sure.

I am looking to get some black rims on my 4runner and decided to buy a cheap set of wheels on CL to paint black. I came across these toyota tacoma trd rims

Now my question is that wen I looked up the offset on 2005 Tacoma rims it comes out a 5.5 inch or 139.7mm med offset. From my searches on this website I see that our truck are 4.75 offset. First off will these fit? Secondly will the stick out to long for the lugs to actually grip enough. What is the optimal offset (aside from the factory) that you have room to play with when choosing different rims without the addition of spacers? Thanks for your help! :cowboy:
 
I had these on my truck temporarily with 265/70 tires and I used my stock lug nuts. They'll fit fine. If you get a set with the stock tires from a Tacoma (265/70) then they'll fit, no problem. They'll also clear the 231mm Tundra brakes. You may run into rubbing issues if you try to put 285s on them.

Not sure about the "optimal offset" but I ended up buying those same wheels (already painted black) for my '97 4runner and they fit perfectly. I had to get new lug nuts (because my original wheels were not stock off of a Toyota) but the offset seems fine. I was afraid that they would be too far set in but they look fine. They're P245/75R16's so (like Jacob said) if you put on some 265/70's it'd fill out even better. Here are some pics of mine:

Dude that looks great and even more inspiration for me to get them. I contacted the guy but of course mailbox is full and not replying to emails. Grr now im all excited to buy some nice rims and paint them. I think my 265/75/16's will fit those nicely. Let me know if you suddenly don't like the look and want someone to take them off your hands :lmao:
 
Sooo unfortunately that guy never responded but I found a second guy who has a pretty interesting setup for sale. 4 rims and all the stuff needed to paint them black.... BRAND NEW 2012 Toyota Tacoma 6-Lug 16" Styled Steel Wheels w/ TPMS

He said the lowest he will go is $250. Also heres a fun fact I was not aware of... even tho I don't have a TPMS sensor in my truck, the sensors still need to remain on the rims because you can't use a regular vavle stem apparently? I was going to turn around and sell the sensors since they are going to about $170 for 4 on ebay. :crybaby:

Maybe it's just me, but I'm not a huge fan of those wheels. Not sure how common Toyota truck wheels are up where you're at but I think you should wait for some other ones. Just my $.02 :) I can't tell from your signature picture, but what kind of wheels do you have now?

Just the stock 16" ones that came on the truck. I love them and would enjoy them in black but I can't paint them mounted on the truck and I have no other means of transport while the truck is held up.
 
You can do two at a time, just jack the truck up and take them off. Find an evening where you won't need to drive overnight. Prep/paint in the evening and then put them back on in the morning when they are dry.
 
Hmm this may be worth considering. I was just concerned with the amount of coats needed, prep, paint, and what happens when they balance the tires and move the weights around on the wheels. Decisions, decisions.....
