Backspacing

I did a search and only 2 threads come up with backspacing in the title. Searching through every thread with backspacing in it is tedious so I figured Id make it easy for future searchers with my title and question.

87 4 runner. I have a set of 31 x 10.50 15 tires to put on. Getting 8 inch wheels. The ones I want are available in 4 or 4.5" backspacing. Which ones do I want? I do not currently have bj spacers, but may down the road. I see that sometimes makes a difference. I did search but I want to order wheels today and couldnt find what I needed quickly. Thanks folks!

I've been wondering the same thing for my '93... I'm running the stock wheels on 33x10.50s right now and would like to upgrade to a wider wheel that will also widen the stance a bit too, because the factory wheels have my meats sucked up under the rig pretty good. I've thought about 1" spacers, but want to avoid them... what offset do I need to widen my stance a couple inches?

How it looks right now...

So I don't know for sure but..... I had never seen anyone stuff 33s under a non lifted runner before joining this site. I see this can be done. But I believe it only really works because the stock rims suck the tires in so far. And at real strong flex you may still rub (not sure tho). I run 33-12.50-15 on 15x10s and there is no way it would work with out some lift.

I offroad the hell out of this thing, stock as a rock with 33x10.50s and it BARELY rubs every once and a while at extreme angles... a little "massaging" with a hammer and I'd never hear a thing...

I'm sure I have seen quite a few folks on the forum that run your setup. I just think if you go to a wider wheel or bigger offset you may run into a bigger issue. Not sure just my thoughts.

I'm running the same combo. 33/10.50s on the original 15x6" rims. It never rubs even when at max flex. The only mod was to pound flat the pinch weld at the rear of the front wheelwells. Other than that, it's stock. No lift, no rub. I do want to lift it tho to gain some undercarriage clearance.
