Backup Camera ??'s

Hi.

Has anyone here successfully added the backup camera to their 2003 4-Runner with JBL Nav System? Is the wiring harness already there? Is it just a matter of ordering the camera from Toyota and hooking it up? I've searched around and can't find a definate answer.

where did you end up getting your savv camera from? best deal I can find is ~$160 from savinglots.com but they're currently out of stock. did you run across any other small cameras w/ a wide angle view that might work well?

I got my from savinglots about a month ago. Yup they had the best price back then too. Others weren't even close.

bringing this thread back from the dead, if i buy this camera will it just plug into the back of my 2003 4runner's stock nav unit? and will this mount in the same location under the lift gate bezel as the stock camera on the 2004's? thanks.

No the Savv will not plug in directly. It has RCA plug so you will have to fabricate adapter into the nav pins. Plus you will need to run power cable from 12v source active during reverse, such as the backup light.

The Eclipse BEC103 camera is a direct plug and play model, but difficule to find and price a little higher.

This is the power/control module for +12VDC input. The camera itself operates on +6VDC. You won't need to use this if you have an Eclipse headunit OR Toyota Headunit.
The button is to activate the camera when not in reverse IF you're using the power/control module.
3rd socket from the left is where the camera plugs.
I just have my camera plugged directly into the back of my Solara NAV.

Top : stock Sienna Camera which is mounted on the trim but through the hatch
Middle : SAVV camera mounted and through the hatch
Bottom : Eclipse mounted ON the hatch
I didn't use the mounting bracket to mount it to save some space. Just 3M chaulking sillicone.
