bad caster on stock 4runner

Hello Everyone,


I just registered on t4r, but have been a long time lurker. I have a stock 4wd 2002 SR5. I recently had bilstein shocks put on as well as the cv boots replaced. I went to get the car aligned the other night, and the caster was pretty off.

Specified Range on the left side is 2.5 to 4.0 and my 4runner is at 5.2

Specified Range on the right side is 2.5 to 4.0 and I'm at 4.1

I've searched and wasn't able to find out much except for getting adjustable control arms, but how would that be on a stock 4runner? Forgive me for the noob cry for help, but what should the next course of action be? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I really don't see slightly excess positive caster as a problem. It may actually help you keep a straight course going down the freeway. Only thing you may want to have changed is the fact that the left side is higher than the right. It usually is adjusted the other way around with the passenger slightly higher than the driver side to offset road crown.

The caster (and the camber) are adjusted with the LCA cams. No need to replace control arms for a stock 4runner.

Edit to add that because of the age of the vehicle the cams may be rusted solid and may require replacement of the LCA bushings/bolts or maybe the entire LCAs. I would say if the 4runner drives fine then leave it alone.

Thanks much the the reply. I was under the impression that caster wasn't adjustable. Maybe I went to a bad alignment shop.
