Some of you probably have had worse days than what I`m about to decribe, but here it goes...
My wife woke me up Saturday morning and said her car died and needed to be towed. She had been waiting on the side of the road for 4 hours after a night on the town. The car is old and has high mileage so I was thinking the engine blew up or something like that. We went to the shop, got the tow truck and brought it back to take a look at it. After a few minutes of diagnosis I decided that the fuel pump had stopped working. Not too bad, a cheap fix. On Monday I`ll look into it further since it can still be something else like the computer, relay, etc. I was still a little tired so I went back home for a nap on the couch. When I woke up it was 5:30pm. I slept the day away! I decided to go for a coffee. The mother in-law called me on the cell and asked to keep our 3 year old daughter for another night. I agreed to it but she needed a change of clothes so back to the house I went. My wife was on the phone already planning yet another night out with her friends. I had to work the next morning so I decided to let her go. I put the clothes in my 4Runner and started it up. My wife called me back into the house to ask me a question. I set the parking brake, kept the engine running and left the door open. I was standing just inside the door of the house for a minute or two when I heard this crunch. I thought it was the front door closing in the breeze so I looked at it. Through the window of the door I see my truck rolling backwards. The driver door had hit my car as the 4Runner rolled backwards. I have a narrow driveway on a slight slope. I ran out to the truck and see the door folded back into the fender. The Runner was heading towards the road. I ran after it and hopped in the Runner and slammed on the brakes. Now I`m pissed and wondered why the truck rolled away. I pulled the truck back onto the driveway and went to set the parking brake. The cable broke! I asessed the damage. Does anyone have a new door, fender, hinges and trim pieces for an 1988 Toyota 4Runner. I could use them. Also I now have for sale a rotted out 1990 Chev Corsica with a broken right headlight and one hell of a sratch down the passenger side.
