Bad OBDII Connector?

Does the connector look damaged or the pins look a bit weird? If you look at the back of the connector there's two tabs that secure it.

Kind of forgot sbout this for a while, is there a "faceplate" for the OBD? I seem to recall you posting it on a different thread and it was quite cheap. I'm thinking of trying to replace that and see if it cures the problem rather thsn have a shop troubleshoot it for me. They were able to get a connection but I can't with the SG so it seems like it might be the issue.

I had a similar problem with my WRX STI, but it would not read on 3-4 scanners at the smog stations but would read on my cheapo bluetooth scanner.

finally i found out that the connection was loose, I had to lift up vertically on the scanner towards the roof, while the smog guy did his computer thing.

worked for me, maybe you can give it a try.

Reviving this old thread. As I said initially my ScanGaugeII wasn't able to work with my OBD port but my mechanic could with his scanner. I finally got back to trying to figure this out and succeeded by picking up a splitter. Using the splitter worked which I believe is because the connection is deeper than the SG. Whatever the reason the result is everything now works.
