Bad power steering pump?

I recently replaced my power steering low pressure line due to a leak. Before I replaced the line the reservoir got pretty low on fluid a few times.

Now that everything is fixed , the steering feels really tight sometimes. It comes and goes. Is there a way to identify if the pump is bad? I'm thinking that's it, but looking for a way to verify.

I just want to make sure that it's not the rack going bad. Wasn't sure if there are different symptoms for a bad rack.

Might be the steering column u-joint, pretty common failure on the 4th gen. Lots of info on here, check that first before buying a new steering rack or pump.

My 03 had the fluid line leak. My current 08 I believe to have pwer steering pump failure. The pump is very loud when I start the car and its leaking quite a bit
