Bad tires. -_- ???

I just switched to my other set of tires , some continental pro contact I think. I switched from some Bridgestone Dueler APT , only reason I switched was because of dry rot. Now I've got my steering wheel shaking from 60+. It's really pissing me off. Did I get a bad batch of continentals ??

That's my first thought. I'll take them back today after class today or tomorrow. But I wanted to get other opinions just in case.

I had these tires on my old wheels and the old wheels ended up being bent and causing a vibration. But now I'm thinking these tires also attributed to my vibration with my old wheels even though the other wheels were bent.

Probably a poor balance job, but if the wheels are bent, you can't balance that out. The other issue could be the tires, but that isn't as likely. In any case the issue will be determined on the wheel balancer.

I know the wheels aren't bent because they were perfectly balanced and the smoothest ride I've ever had when I had my bridge stones on. I'm thinking that the continentals have a ton of imperfections. Cause something isn't adding up.

I just reread your post. If you had the tires on bent wheels, they could be worn from the wheels. If that is the case then there is little that can be done. That will show up on the balancer. If they don't roll smooth on the balancer, they won't roll smooth on your vehicle. Try to be in the shop when they put them on the balancer and see how they roll.

To add to this, I still need to go get them rebalanced and see if that solves it. But my CV axles are brand new , so it shouldn't be that causing the vibration. I honestly think i got a bad set of tires, meaning I'm thinking they're unbalanceable. But it really just pisses me off that the bridgestones were the best tires i've ever driven on and they don't make them anymore. It's just annoying that my truck drove exactly how I wanted it to for the last few months, and then this crap happens after getting my tires transfered over. Oh well, guess I just gotta figure it out.

sorry to piggyback on your thread, but I have a 2004 T4R Sport edition with the 4.7 V8 with 99k miles. I am having a weird shaking that shows up between 30-45 MPH. I just had the tires rotated and balanced and it is still doing it. The tires are getting fairly close to needing to be replaced. Could this be a tire issue or something else?
