Baja vs Gobi rack

So I’ve placed an order for a Gobi ranger but the wait is crazy long and I’ve been thinking about the Baja rack. I like the higher basket style for the safari look. I don’t plan to mount lights any time soon and thought the Gobi with that rise in the front may be a bit useless if I have no lights. Does anyone have experience with both or recommend one over the other because of personal experience?

I know there are threads on this but a lot of them were during the times when Baja racks were rusting and causing dents but since then those issues were supposedly fixed so thought I’d bring up the topic again.

I initially placed and order for the Gobi Ranger but when told of the 6 month lead time. I cancelled and went with Baja Standard Basket. Thank god because I ordered the last day before the price went up last Feb with a 4 week lead time. So far it has been great! Installed in 45 mins while at work. Less wind noise than I expected. Great quality. I have no regrets. I know Gobi makes a stellar product as well but not going to wait at a minimum of 6 months after spending 1600.00+. Just my opinion.

Yah I know how to use google lol. I was asking for peoples opinions at present as things with Baja have changed. You’re welcome to write some useful advice or ignore the question al together.

Gobi is honestly my favorite looking rack, but the wait time is insane. I have the flat rack from baja and I honestly love it. I ordered mine in May of 2017, so after the denting and powder coating issues, but after owning it for a little over a year, the powder coating is starting to flake, but that isn't really a big issue to me. It doesn't matter what type of coating you put on metal, it will eventually begin to fade when it's constantly under the elements. The best part was I had 0 wait time. They shipped it out the day after I ordered it!

had a full length low profile bajarack on my fj that had the bad powdercoating. It went bad in only a year. I contacted them with pictures and they sent me a new rack within two weeks. had no further issues with the new one. I now have a bajarack utility rack on the 4runner and love it. got the ladder as well. it did take about 10 weeks to get mine though but if you're good with a wait going into it then it's not so bad.
