anyone try to order the spy system by itself? I like the drabbits rack and the spy system. If I could get the parts I'm sure drabbits could mount it on his rack.

i was hoping of e this as well since i like the gobi better but looking at the pictures on how it works its seems to be built into the rack...bummer. i like this a lot so this might mean I'm buying a baja rack now. i hate the way these led bars look so to have it hidden is a huge plus AND being able to re aim them as needed for the terrain is amazing

Yes, if you order the SPY rack it comes with the actuator itself, wiring and a switch to control it.

This is by no means a small purchase when considering the total cost. The light bar (Rigid E2) I will throw on this costs more than the rack itself. Let me know if you want a specific picture so you have the most information at your disposal.

The choice was simple for me, no other manufacturer offers this functionality.

I was also worried that I would not be able to tilt the glass up, so tapped the button about 10 times afraid it was going to make contact and crack. Luckily it clears by a few mm.

Is there any chance that with the light bar installed that it would interfere with the tilt? I was planning on welding light bar mounts to my utility rack, but seeing this has me waffling a bit.

Looking at my rack I don't think the light bar itself will interfere with the sunroof tilt. It sits forward for the sunroof glass when in the stowed position.

Also for those who prefer the look of the drabbits or gobi racks, I think it would be pretty easy for drabbits to fab up a similar system. An improvement that could be made would be to move the actuator to one of the sides of the sunroof and add a second to the other side, thus allowing a removable sunroof insert to be used still. I would go for the baja in a heartbeat if they had done that.

If I knew how to weld and had the time, that would definitely be a project I would attempt, or even just modify on a gobi or drabbits rack. Cheers!

The rack does not come with a light bar.

Wow, that rack looks pretty slick. I was always wondering how much MPG you sacrifice with the LED light bar. Well I just ordered a Gobi with the GB, hopefully it won't drop that much.

It sits higher, there actually is a slope going up to clear the lightbar actuator. Also the front mounts bang up and down on the roof if they're not adjusted to full.

I had one on the FJC and it's great - you're exactly right about the advertisement for thieves. You can't even tell it's there when it's down. The other great part is garage-ability and the fact that you can adjust the light up or down to get better coverage on the fly.

For those interested, this light bar from Amazon fits very well in the brackets, and I never had an issue with performance, condensation, etc.

Am I missing something here or is that uber cheap for a light bar? Is the light included or is this just for the brackets? I'll buy a cheapo light bar anyday. I'll admit I'm probably one of about 90% on this forum that go off roading about twice a year so I'd like the option there...but not spend gobs of money. Plus I can fabricate up a servo to move it up and down.

Hey Fimbulvetr. Do you have any pics of the light wiring and the controls inside the cab? Would love to see more of this rack. I think I'm ordering next week.
