Ball joint boot kit

I was going to install my new bilstein 5100s the other day and saw the the upper ball joints are completely torn. It looks fairly recent because their still full of grease. I called the dealership to get new ball joints and they said that they sell the boot kit. This is the only vehicle I've heard of where you can buy a replacement boot kit. I ordered it but is there a way of checking if my ball joints are still good? I checked for any movement and didn't feel anything and I'm not getting any weird noises or anything. Anything else I can check? Anyone have any experience with the replacement boot kits?

im sure there are many on here that will say just replace the joint.

but, if the joint is tight and smooth, and it was a recent break, yes, just change the boots.

fyi, you used to be able to get boots for all sorts of TRE's, and balljoints. I think from energy suspension. not sure if they still offer them or not...
