Ball joint replacement

Now for my last question today. Has anyone used this ball joint type from GES Parts?

I know I need to replace the CVs and ball joints; also the struts/springs/shocks but thought I'd do the CV/ball joints first. then the others.
I need to learn to take baby steps just don't want it to break down before I get her all fixed up.

LOWER ball joints is one component that calls for genuine Toyota OEM 100% of the time IMHO.

most people would agree you can get the best deals online if you know exactly what you need. You should strongly consider attacking your Lower ball joints first as the main priority...

right lower ball joint(43330-39585)

you will also need 8 new bolts & locktite!

The bolts for the ball joints to the spindles on 96-00 are PN 90080-10066 (qty 8)

It's a very straight forward job. Perfect one to being to get your hands dirty on. Get a C-shape puller. Will make the job a lot easier. Another tip is that when you're tightening the 4 lower bolts on the ball joint, tighten them, lower the vehicle down to the ground and then torque them. Don't torque them while the vehicle is in the air.

if I'm not mistaken, those are the bolt part numbers for 4runners ranging from 1996-2000...

01-02's have slightly different bolts.. the part number for the lower ball joint bolts for a 2001 & 2002 4runner is

PN: 90119-10933

Another tip is that when you're tightening the 4 lower bolts on the ball joint, tighten them, lower the vehicle down to the ground and then torque them. Don't torque them while the vehicle is in the air.

You have that backwards. Torque it while the joint is unloaded otherwise you WON'T be applying the proper torque to the bolts! LBJ is under tensile forces when loaded.

Interesting. I've always heard the opposite with the LBJ's. As well as I've heard of several people over-pressing the boot when trying to torque the bolts while in the air.

You know, I don't what's up with that kid I work with, [MENTION=102606]infamousRNR[/MENTION]. He had an opportunity to plug one of our videos and he dropped the ball. I feel ya Bra. Luckily she came to this forum because we tend to be more forgiving and helpful here.

OP, what my buddy Sean is saying is it's good to do a Google search first because there's a very good chance there's already multiple established threads on this forum and others so you have a good chance of finding your answer without having to resort to starting a new thread. It's usually when you've exhausted your search and still can't find you answer that you start a new thread. The search engine on the forum is ok but using Google is a lot better.

I’ve looked and watched videos but needed more of a parts list. I still need a buddy to help me.
I do the GORUCK events and can carry heavy stuff but as for wrestling tires and stuff, yea I need a hand.

@ TrexRunnerGirl- Depending on the year of your 'runner, you could possibly be eligible for the LBJ recall and have Toyota install new LBJ's and pay for the whole thing. It's worth a trip to the local stealership to find out.
