So many exhaust threads, thought I'd try and help out some. Throw a bone even though is one of the things that is different on my truck. Before I got the 4Runner I got my tundra. Through owning it I learned of www.bamufflers.com Read up at his site as he developed his system to do exactly what we all want which is sound good, increase performance and have zero drone.
I've got one On the 4Runner and it is bad ass. I know I got inproved performance from it. You guys should look it up. Guys name is Keith and there are view videos out there of his systems. I have a pic in my build thread of the 18" muffler I got.
Several of the forum members have heard it. It can be made to order as far as sound. Yes the performance will stay the same and the sound can be modified as I understand it. I think [MENTION=102083]FROGrunner[/MENTION] has one, I've seen him chime in before. Check out my videos if you want to here.

Which one fits a 4runner?

I didn't order it off of his site. I called about it and I'm pretty sure he told me it's the same one used on the FJ. I'm loading an even better video I have of it through acceleration and around town driving.

It's true, I don't have 4R exhaust on my site. You have to call to order But Chris is right, it's the same basic thing as I use for our FJ systems.

And we make a system specific to 4.7 and a system specific to 4.0

custom muffler size, no drone, bolts on easily, and so overbuilt it can be used as a skid plate

Everyone has their own preferences. A "good" sounding exhaust (to me) is the one I can't hear.

He is pretty big on Tundra solutions. I have one of his mufflers on my v8

That's the beauty of this system. You get a slight performance benefit, you can order it to be heard as much or as little as you want when on the gas, and it' nearly stock when cruising because it has a helmholtz resonator.
