I have a 12 gauge under my bed with an ammo sleeve on the stock, and a KA-Bar in my glove box for hiking, so I'm cool with whatever protection people want in general, and not a model for formality, I guess. But I have some common sense.
Having a holster right there for quickdraw is asking for trouble, and your raging self knows it. Besides it's not even you to worry about (though in this case maybe it is). It's the (occasional) jerk cop.
Plus, with it in plain sight... you're screwed in either of the below situations:
1) you are in a hurry and run into a store without it, and a homeless person or thug sees it sitting in your car.
2) you take it with you, but same homeless person or thug thinks there's a 50% chance you moved it to your glovebox, and breaks into your car to check.
I guess you could throw a tshirt or shop rag over it to keep it vaguely concealed, but it's a really tricky mod either way. It's asking for trouble and I would expect that if folks have a gun that ready to come out more often, it WILL come out more often.
But hey, you wanna be a Darwin Award winner go right ahead. Gives me a great takeaway here:
