Nicely done! I'm curious how much money you actually spent. I've built several bumpers including swing outs and it mostly doesn't save that much money when you add it all up. Sure it might cost less, but if you have to buy everything, steel, grinding discs, primer, paint, latches, bolts etc. You may at best cut the price to 60% of buying it. I get the feeling people believe they can build it for 10-20% of the cost of buying it.

Of course building it is fun, and you can say " I built it "! Plus you get more exactly what you want. :snacker:

That turned out great! The gap is intentional. There should be a 1" vertical gap between the top of the bumper and the truck's body line. This is because the rear of these trucks can flex a lot, and the bumper can hit the body and dent it. When I built my bumper, I only put a 1/2" gap in it, and it dented the body when flexing offroad.

You can easily fill the gap with some soft flexible rubber or weatherstripping.

Get the poly body mounts that Sonoran Steel sells. When I built my bumper there was about 3/8 of a gap and anytime I flexed the suspension it would contact the body. But with those mints it's rock solid and even when I drop the weight of the truck on the bumper there is no contact

I agree. This is a good fix. Unfortunately, this wasn't available way back when I first built my bumper.

Although it does seem like it’d be more we really do have a TON of stuff in our shop, we already had every single tool down to the flap disks so I didn’t have to buy any and I already had spray paint so all I bought was the hi build primer, I know there’s som smaller stuff I forgot so it’s probably closest to 600 but I got the plate cut for free at my high school so that saved a ton.

Well done sir, looks very good.
The steel costs drive up the cost of any project for sure, I scrounge.
Metal Building frame work has many uses. There is a manufacturer a short
drive from me that I hit up regularly for bits n pieces of plate steel. Then hit
the steel supply house for the heavier stuff.
