Bandit Runner's Build Thread

Any new updates on other projects?

Glad you asked. I just finished up a small project. It is a flag mount. Silver Lake State Park requires an orange recangular flag on the front of your vehicle that is at least 10 feet high. I chose to mount it to the center hoop of my front bumper, which is 4' high. Then I purchased a flag and 6' whip pole from AditudeGear.com.

I came up with a clamping system to mount the flag pole to the front bumper hoop. Grabbed some scrap angle iron, and started cutting and welding. Here are the parts I ended up with:

Its just 4 bolts clamping two "V" shaped pieces around the hoop tubing. I used some rubber strips to protect the hoop paint.

Flag pole just bolts on, and the final result:

That looks good, when I get my rear bumper I want to get a 4' 6' flag to put on it. Not sure how to get it on there. I'm sure CBI will work with me.

Since I haven’t posted in my build thread for a while, I’ll provide a small update. Recently, I repainted the rear bumper, so it would match the paint on the front bumper and sliders. This past week I had off from work, so I decided to wash, clay bar, polish, and wax the truck before winter sets in. I also made some kayak racks to attach to the roof rack, which I will get pics of later.

Lame driveway pics of it all cleaned up:

Then I drove to the beach down the road from my work and took these this morning:

I look forward to when you post updated pics. 4Runner is looking good. Can't wait for you to have a chance to get the night shots of that rack.

So I finally installed my Tundra brake upgrade last weekend. I've had the parts sitting around since May. I took it for a test drive and it felt much improved. Big thanks to BigFishAllDay for his great write-up. I would have never even tried doing myself if it weren't for him. :trophy:

Well I finally got some pics of the roof rack lights. Sorry it took so long. Better late than never, right? To my surprise, the pics actually turned out pretty good. I included the non-roof rack lights too.

Wow, wow, wow. Your efforts really paid off.

Be thankful the mother ship didn't mistake you for a lost explorer and beam you up!

If I saw that thing coming at me at night I'd freak the hell out.. Looks like a damn UFO lol..

Great job!

pretty sure you've got more lights in your rig than I have in my house haha

the pods on the rack look great as well as the switch housing.

Hit a deer this evening with the 4Runner - 8 point buck. Front bumper took the hit pretty well, but got slightly tweaked. Damage to driver's side headlight, corner light, grille, trim piece under headlight, and offroad lights.

Oh yeah, and the deer died almost instantly.

Pics to follow.

Sucker jumped out from behind a bush. Hit it doing about 40mph. Initial pics of damage and deer:

There would have been a LOT more damage if it weren't for my awesome bumper!
Better pics of damage to come, if it ever stops snowing.

A friend is processing the deer for us. Mmmmm, Yummy!

Glad to hear nothing worse happened. Funny how animals jump out at you. I had a buddy who does cropdusting in a helicopter and a pheasant jumped up out of the field he was spraying and went straight through the passenger side windscreen. Thankfully no one was on that side.
