Bandit Runner's Build Thread

Oh yeah baby! I'm supercharged! Had a mechanic help me install it today.
Took it for a test run afterwards and couldn't believe how much of a difference it made. My truck is fun to drive again!

:jump:

Looking good. I think I'm going to finally install mine this weekend. It's been over a year. What additional mod/upgrades did you decide to do with the install? URD/AEM, T-stat, pump, plugs, injectors etc... Plans for a valve body upgrade in the future?

We literally just bolted in the supercharger. No mods whatsoever. I'm running premium gas and it has been running fantastic. Very smooth and no issues at all.

That being said, I'm already looking into the 7th injector kit, wideband O2, and smaller pulley. :ohwell: hehe

Might as well get as much as I can out of it, right?

Since you really like to model and sell stuff I'll be waiting for the dual housing to be in the for sale section... :snacker:

Honestly this is sick, by far one of the coolest 4Runner retrofits I've ever seen.

Since you have an 2002 you might wanna look into doing the AEM FIC-6 over the 7th injector if you're "trying to get all you can". From what I understand reading about the 7th injector does not allow for as fine user tuning with the 01-02 truck setups as the FIC does.

Yeah, I've been looking into that as well. I probably shouldn't have said "try
to get as much as I can out of it".

I just want to safely get a little more out of it. I'm not trying to squeeze every last horsepower out of it.

I received a few more 3D printed parts today. Facia, shrouds & rear caps:

I set the shrouds on the facia to see how they would look:

Pretty happy with how everything is turning out.

I'm here bending acrylic in my garage with a blow torch and your having b!tchin 3D printed dual halo lights dropped off to your door? I really need to learn CAD. lol

Looking forward to this all coming together.

Ran across this site a few weeks ago. Seems to be a pretty full featured tool. Coming from Creo and Solidworks, it's taken me a little time to adjust, but I think it's pretty great for a free program. https://www.onshape.com/

Stuff is looking great, Bandit! I moved to the BHTC a while back, so haven't seen your rig in a while. Might just have to swing by on my way in sometime once this retrofit is done to check it out! Lol

Did some more work on the dual projector project this weekend. Worked on building up a full prototype to check to make sure everything fit properly. First I mounted the halos to the facia. 100mm on the D2S and 80mm on the 4TL-R:

Then mounted the facia to the aluminum plate with the projectors. Also added the shrouds:

Set the glass cover in place to check for clearances. There is about 1/4" between the projector lenses and inside surface of the glass.

Flipped the whole thing over and installed the bulbs and igniters. You can also see the rubber plugs I made to seal the holes that the halo, demon eye and high beam solenoid wires are coming out:

Added the rear caps to seal everything up:

Dang Bandit, those are the only style of retros that I would actually want to run! I want retros but do not like the little bug eye look in the massive housing that the 3rd gen has! These things are awesome!

What is the total cost on these headlights so far?

I knew someone would ask that. I've been keeping a running list and sadly its quite expensive. I have almost $1600 in them so far, and I still need to have more parts 3D printed. It will easily be over 2 grand when all is said and done.

Probably the most expensive retrofit in history. :(

This double projector project is ridiculous....

But I expect no less from you :D

Oh, and I love how you just threw the supercharger in the middle of everything, all nonchalantly. Jerk lol
