Bandit Runner's Build Thread

Wow

Your ingenuity and creativity never ceases to amaze me friend, it looks great and as always is an inspiration to me and others alike.

Can't wait to see that new grill all together, should look pretty sick. Oh, and your 4Runner looks sweet in the snow.

Thanks.

Thanks, I really appreciate it. I've done a lot of mods that others have done before me, but I always try to put my own spin on them.

Got a little more work done on the grille today. Cut out the mesh for the background, and finished sanding all the epoxy work on the grille.

Then I got all the screw holes drilled into the plastic pieces I epoxied into place, and screwed the mesh into place.

Just needs primer and paint now. Still deciding if I want to go with bronze or green.

All primed and ready for paint:

I usually suck at bodywork type stuff, but this is turning out really surprisingly well. Hope I don't screw it up when I paint it.

Really nice build man! How much did those headlights cost you? And the rear? I really love the dark look, and are the front too bright? I'm thinking of doing that trunk organizer now lol

Thanks! I got all the headlight components from TheRetrofitSource.com, and they cost about $300. The rear taillights are Altezza, and I got them online for around $140. The front lights are bright, but not too bright.

Yeah those bulbs look like cats eyes, looks really sick! Did you use the stock headlight and just change the bulb? And if so, was it much work? And how much did that trunk organizer run ya about to build? Sorry for all the questions, just really interested! PS: ever install a remote start before?

Here is my thread on the headlight mod. They are called projector HID lights. Several others have done the retrofit also.

The cargo storage unit probably cost about $100 for the wood, carpet, and hardware.

Never installed a remote start.

I am continually asked for more information on many of my build projects. Some of these projects have their own threads, so I posted the links to these project threads on the first post of my build thread. I will also post them here. (Just trying to be a little more organized with my build info.)

Bought these LED rock lights from a guy selling them on Pirate4x4.

They had a deal, buy 20 and get 5 more free. They come in different colors, but I just got them all in white. They are really bright for their size.

The plan is to put 3 or 4 lights under the hood with their own switch to light up the engine bay at night if needed. Another 3 or 4 lights on the inside of the rear hatch to light up the area under it when it is open. These will be wired into the rear cargo light. The rest of the lights will be used as rock lights. Just ordered a switch from OTRATTW for the rock lights too.

Should be a fun little project.

Nice work Bandit, as always.
I may copy you on that Satoshi X emblem idea, except I don't have access to a 3D printer, and May machine up some square tubing and use the 96-98 emblem holder. I'm sure I can rig something up, it just won't be as beautiful as yours. Lol
Also do you mind sending me a pm about that switch pod you have there? How much would one cost me from you?
(I can't send PMs lately)

Thanks Mate!

So I bought a new set of fog lights. I was using a set of Rigid Industries Dually white floods. What I found was that the white light just reflected off the fog, and wasn’t real helpful. So I ordered a set of these:

Rigid’s D2 Dually lights with amber colored LED’s. I also went with the driving beam this time to try and get a little more distance with the lights. Got them installed tonight. I’ll get some pics of the light output soon.

I also finally ordered my offroad spot lights to replace the ones the deer smashed. I decided to take a chance on these Chinese LED long distance lights. I got them off Ebay for $180. They have 12 LED’s each at 5watts, and are supposed to shine up to 1000 meters. They arrived today, and I was actually very pleased with them. They are quite heavy and were well packaged, not cheap feeling at all.

As soon as I get my grille mod finished (waiting for warm weather so I can paint it), I’ll get these installed. Hopefully soon.

I think I may have a problem. I seem to be addicted to LED lights. I'm already looking for more...
