I want to purchase slidders and there's alot of different ones out there and im looking to stay under 500$. And I also need them to stick out far enough to be used as a step. input appriciated.

pictures of all the different sliders installed would be cool. i too am trying to decide which one to buy.

There's a lot of options out there, and you should easily be able to find something you like at or under $500.
 
Cheap and good is 4xinnovations. I would have gone that route if I hadn't found my Trailgear ones cheap locally.
 
savage offroad... $250 + shipping and they are 68" so they cover the full length of the rockers. Some companies only provide 63" to 65". DOM is available for an extra $100 but I doubt you'll need it. They also have a DIY kit for cheaper. The big reason why some people don't get them is becuase they are 68", with the limited fender flares you have to cut some on the bottom the flare, but it's not noticeable.

I like my 4xinnovations sliders. I have the HREW version and they were $169 + shipping. But you have to know how to weld. Not a big deal for me, but most people dont know how to weld.

The dom version was +$50. Im fine with hrew They dent, but you have to really smash them. And I added a 4th leg and gusset on the rear of my sliders because 3 wasnt cutting it and they were starting to flex up and smash the rocker panel.

Just a few things to remember Your sliders should be between 66" and 68" long. The 68's may rub your tire if you run 35's.

you need .120 1.75" tubing at the smallest 1.5" dents way easier even dom its too small for a good pair of sliders

HREW vs DOM is a huge debate, from what i have seen is DOM doesnt dent as easily as hrew, But at the same time DOM seems to bend easier than hrew. HREW has a lot of flex in it.

frame plates and gussets need to be used on the legs. Mainly gussets, but the 4x kit come with frame plates so might as well use them

and the kick out is super usefull. Get it.
 
I smashed my Savage sliders on almost every rock in the park :lol: and they're just lightly scratched. 68" HREW with Kickout! Get 'em!
 
Stubbs welding FTW!!!! have a sweet "subtle" kick out and have more legs than most other sliders. Bombproof.
 
I am really liking the looks of the square tube sliders from Mercer. I am in between those and Savage. I know Savage is very good quality, but does anybody have experience with Mercer?
 
Sliders aren't brain surgery. (not bashing anyone)
The keys are: long enough (wheel opening to wheel opening), 3 or 4 legs back to the frame, frame plates and GUSSETS.

DOM is great for roll cages, HREW is plenty for sliders. The biggest thing with DOM is that it is seamless and can't "split at the seam".

The frames on our 4runners is thin so it is very important to use frame plates (a plate that is welded to the end of the slider legs and then welded flat onto the frame) and Gussets (they are a triangulation plate that is welded on top of the slider legs and back to the frame plates). The frame plates disperse the energy created into a larger area so the slider legs don't tear holes in the frame. The gussets brace the sliders to minimize the upward flex. Ultimately the frame plates span from the top to the bottom of the frame. Likewise the gussets should span the leg to the top of the frame.
 
I go the 4xinnovation in DOM. Arrived 4 days after purchasing and they are beefy as hell. I havn't put them on yet to test but if looks/weight is any indicator these are going to be rock solid. Waiting on welder.
 
i went with trailgear sliders. DOM tubing and i believe it was about $280ish shipped to me. The legs are long enough so that you can cut them to whatever length you want when you install them. I also got the frame plates as well. If you want to take a look at mine sometime let me know.
 
Oh...CBI makes bolt on sliders. I think most prefer weld on bc a weld can support the entire weight of the vehicle. Bolt on sliders could potentially give out under the circumstances they were supporting the entire rig.
 
The guy at mercer said they are not in production any longer. So 4xinovation it is. I'm gunna get the dom upgrade with kick out.
 
the trail gear ones can be either weld on or bolt on, if you chose to bolt them on you will have to drill through the frame and buy your own bolts, but their mounting plates are already drilled for the bolt on app. bolt on will work just fine, 6-8 grade 8 bolts could easily hold the entire weight of your vehicle. but welding them on would be easier and faster and just as good, or better... id really look at trail gear, i had a local company make mine for me, i am their test mule other wise id of gone with trail gear.

yeah... just found this out too. pretty bummed. i liked the square tube. might have to find a fab shop in my area to make some for me.
