Banged My Shin too Many Times

Sorry folks, my search skills aren't too good.

I always wondered why people installed Hitch Receiver Plugs other than they simply have a statement to make.

In less than 4 weeks I've banged my shin 3 times on this receiver. I suppose the cheapest way to solve this is to remember and avoid, but I'm wondering if these plugs can at the very least reduce the pain.

Does anyone make a foam rubber cover? I don't care if it only lasts a couple of years.

Without a solution, I'll be Limping over the finish line I'm afraid.

Try the BougeRV

I lost the Toyota one as it vibrates out easily on dirt roads. I bought the BougeRV 2" one on Amazon which has a retainer and so far so good.

So it's not that there's a hitch hanging out that you're kicking, it's just the receiver under the bumper you're somehow managing to run into, repeatedly? I can't say that's ever been a problem for me.

I've also had a Toyota receiver plug "disappear", whether it vibrated out on its own or was helped out by someone who needed it more than me I can't say, but one with a retainer sounds like a good idea to me.

He's talking about the receiver, not the hitch. Not sure how he's bumping into that either.

Shoot, I keep a D ring in mine wich sticks out quite a bit and I only graze it occasionally.

Sounds like he needs to fully gear up for playing a football game before he even goes outside.

Always go one step beyond.

He can C-NOTCH his shins.
Cut the bone out, screw in a C-Notch made from metal where the bone was. :scared:

And, at night, the C-Notch with naturally elevate your feet in bed.

Notice they BOTH have NY plates?

What would be funny/ironic is if they sliced them halfway, and with the slice hanging down, used some fender washers and heavy TEKS screws into the bumper.
The non-mounted free side would flop down and cover the screw heads/washers, but they put huge hols in their bumper to stop a few scratches.

I use a Tyger step/short bumper that has been tapped/hit at least 5 times. A few by myself backing up getting as close as I could to a wall. Comes with a locking hitch pin for easy removal if when you need the additional ingress/egress 4 wheeling. I also, added thick black pads from Amazon on the corners for potential minor hits from other mall drivers. Bought this off CARID and the tongue was to long and hit the spare. I told them about it and they said just keep it. I cut it to length and it has been great. Never mind the spare tire cover that got shredded after getting off the trail. Step took a hard hit coming off a steeper drop off without a hitch. No pun intended.
