Banner Grade on the 18th

I'm going to Julian on the 18th to look at abandoned gold mines. Most of the trails are fire roads so front wheel drive is optional.
I'm thinking meet in Julian at 10AM then head down the grade at 11 but plans are flexible.

Make sure to call the ranger station to make sure the trails will be open. We were up in Ramona today and every gate that could be locked was locked due to the recent rain I guess

That sounds like a fun time. I’ve never seen an abandoned mine but would really like to someday. I’ll have to keep that area in mind. Hopefully you encounter good weather; rain is in the forecast again this weekend!

Next weekend there is going to be rain in the area, I would imagine trails will be closed. I was supposed to be camping out at Trona Pinnacles to relax and take some photos, but I might have to postpone that trip. Hopefully the weather reports are wrong.

Well if nobody's going with I think I'll cancel the trip. I still have highway tires and don't want to get stuck in the mud alone. Plus I found out my transmission mount is all bent up. I'm going to have a coworker fab up a lower profile one before my next outing.

Trail gear makes a mount its legit and well priced.

Good call not going alone in the mud...I've learned several times that's a pretty bad idea, guess I'm a slow learner. I've always wanted to go exploring over there too, but no go this weekend. You should've jumped on [MENTION=123332]Drunner97[/MENTION] offer to join him out in JT

That's a bit of a trip for me. Plus I'm still new to the whole not driving on pavement thing and didn't want to slow down a scouting group

We're not doing anything difficult, but we are all lifted/modified and likely to be jamming it across open sections. Sounds like you already have a busted mount, don't wanna make that worse.
