I head to Nevada for work and always hop off the 15 at some point and just drive the dirt roads, they show up on the gps in my car so I usually follow them for a couple hours and have never planned anything out. They follow along the 15 and get some distance at some points and also have trails leading deeper into the desert. All the trails are pretty fun and nothing gets crazy if you watch your speed. I've hit some nasty ruts and bottomed out the front pretty good, so you need to keep an eye out because you don't see them till its too late. I'd say its easily manageable solo depending how equipped and how far you want to get away. When I drive on weekdays I never see anyone and cell reception is very weak. If you are going when there is rain, take traction boards because some of the clay is impossible to get out of and a mud tire will be useless. Trails vary from sandy to dirt roads with deep ruts to very rocky/rough roads. All passable in a 4x4.
I've been off all the trails from Manix to Jean which is a little past Primm. I recommend Jean, its a dry lake bed and a lot of fun. I'll get some drone footage up in a couple days hopefully. Sorry I don't have better maps or specific trails to tell you specifically where to go.
