Basic Compass

Has anyone here ever tried using one of those cheap suction cup compass balls? I got one the other day, and have noticed that it only reads west basically anywhere infront of my shifter. I guess there is some sort of electromagnetic field that is not allowing it to read correctly. Has anyone found a place to mount one that actually allows it to work?

Vehicle Compasses

You cannot use a regular compass in a car since the vehicle itself induces magnetic fields.


There are many types available depending upon your needs and budget. I used these for many years before the built-in rear view mirror compass in my 4Runner and wife's Camry.
