After a Monday night pool tournament and decent Monday night buzz, my wife and I went to Sheetz for a classy gas station dinner. We picked up food and headed home to eat. While sitting at the kitchen table eating food, at like 10:30 pm, a f’ing BAT fly’s over the table and into the TV room. My wife immediately ran to the garage and outside, leaving me inside, alone, to deal with the vermin. I watched it fly from kitchen to TV room and back many times. My wife, from outside, yelled that I should use a blanket and capture him in it. I tried this and failed. Next I grabbed a crowbar and planned on hitting it when it flew by. I failed at this as well. Eventually the bat flew in a little hallway between the downstairs bathroom and the laundry room. I went to the hallway and shut both doors, effectively trapping him in one of the rooms. I first checked the bathroom, slowly, and determined he wasn't in there. And when I say “checked” I mean I opened the door and threw things in the room to try and disturb him. Next I checked the laundry room with the same method. Throwing things in there did not disturb him, but I did eventually see him hanging from a bag in the laundry room. My wife realized my crowbar would not do the trick and told me to get the pool skimmer from the basement. It was at this point, skimmer in hand, that I asked her to video tape the attempted bat capture. Below is the video of said capture. If you’re in a public environment keep the volume low as Jen and I may have cussed a few hundred times. Enjoy.
