I've got an '06 Limited and I'm looking for some suggestions on what i should look at next. Ive searched this sight and everyone seems to point to the alternator when the battery light comes on. So at this point I've replaced both but the damn light is still on. Some days it goes off for a few minutes then comes back on a few minutes later but I haven't noticed any problems in drivability. The dealership is saying I should try a new gauge cluster next. I don't really want to just keep throwing money at it. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Have you done any testing? Have you verified that you are getting proper charging voltage (between about 13~14volts DC), have you checked your grounds and connections? How about referencing the wiring diagram to see what else could cause that light?
Checked the ground wire and the resistance in other wires. While testing voltage it was mostly 13~14v but it had some weird spikes up to 16v. Thought it might be the voltage regulator so I changed the alternator (new denso) but still have the dang battery light. Another strange thing happened last week when i was getting on the freeway but it might be unrelated, the heater fan went up to high for just a few seconds and all the dash-lights went on and all gauges maxed out then everything went back to normal. Any ideas???

Based on only one comment to my post, its possible that no one really cares but if there is anyone out there who does care, I found the solution to my problem. Turns out it was the third wire going to the alternator. Even though it didn't look bad I was only getting 8v through it instead of 12ish. Kudos to Toyota Bountiful for checking to make sure it wasn't the gauge cluster and then tracking down the bad wire. It took them nearly 4 hours but when it was all fixed they didn't charge me a dime. They said they should have noticed it when replacing my alternator. Either way my Batt light is finally off. YEAAA

I'm not surprised they didn't charge you, if they put the battery & alt in. However I would be surprised if you go back to them in the future....
If they haven't mastered simple tasks like using a vantage or similar dmm I wouldn't trust them to do something moderately difficult.. good luck to ya & glad you are good 2 go.
