hey guys i have a 1991 SR5 V6 4 runner , noticed vehicle would not start one day , checked battery and battery was at 11.4V charged battery and started truck, used my multimeter and measured voltage across battery and battery was at 11.4 -12.0v so replaced alternator, installed new alternator and checked battery with volt meter battery was at 14.v while running, just today took it for a run an half hour later the truck lost all power and died and battery is dead 9V seems like my alternator is not charging i guess i will check my alternator wires any other suggestions guys

i never done any mod although my brother owned this unit before me and its has and aftermarket remote starter?? hmmmm mabey ill disconnect the remote start, and ya i work as a tech at a FORD dealership and i checked the battery using out Rotunda batttery tester and the battery tested good although this battery has been drained and killed like 3 or 4 times now i could try another battery
to be more specific today #1 i started vehicle fine and did not shut off until bout half an hour later #2 i started vehicle again and vehicle started fine not sure if it was slow starting but it started , drove down the road and 5min later truck started losing all power and all dash lights came on Battery light, etc. battery guage was low, shut off vehicle # 3 Tried starting vehicle and nothing no Crank and while i turn ignition battery guage drops to nothing probed battery with volt meter and battery is at 11V ????
yes you are correct problem is trying to figure out why its down to 11V after installing a new alternator and fully charged battery
if u are talking about a parasitic drain test already done that and there were no draws over .004AMP i even let ammeter sit for like 15min
ya man an i even installed a new alternator and new battery
i think im gonna check the ALT wiring thing is the service manual i have has crappy dinosaur wiring schematics and make it hard to use
How does your alt wire look? Corroded? Mine was, had to run a new wire to the fuse box.
Also when you say you put a volt meter to test your battery are you putting the tester directly onto your battery terminals or on your pos/neg cables? I ask because your cables could be having a bad connection. Ive had that happen to me before battery terminals read 12v, cables were at 10v. Test your alt + wire while the truck is running to see if your getting the correct voltage

This may be a dumb question...
but have you tried a new battery? I had a similar problem, the battery was not more than 24 months, on a 72 month rated battery. It would not hold a charge long enough. Brought the battery back for a free replacment, the problem went away.
The volt meter may tell you how many volts at any given time, but it will not tell you how many amps you have available.
