Hey, I'm looking to buy a new battery this weekend. I'm looking at the optima red tops.

However, I don't know what size batteries.

What sizes will fit the 4runner? Is there anything I need to know before buying a battery online?

How easy is it to install battery, should I get professional help or something?

This is my first car so sorry for some easy and stupid qeustions.

Get the optima with the reversed terminals also get it with the spacer since this battery is a little shorter than OEM. Just unbolt the battery retainer and bolt in new one. Don't be afraid of working on your truck you will learn way more this way.

Model 34R.. you likely wont find it in a store.. so they can either order it or you can order it and install it yourself.

make sure you get a spacer. i didnt, but i used a little piece of rubber to hold it in.

It's best to get a 34R like others have posted but I waited two months and couldn't get one. I went w/ the 34/78 Red Top and extended my battery cables. Here's a pic:

I see you are in the bay area you can get the 34R at Vic Hubbard in Hayward. I got mine there about 4 months ago.

How much did it cost?

And I'm not as electronically gifted as you are haha. I really don't know how to extend the cables. I wish though. Looks good by the way.

I didn't do the extension, Al & Ed's did when they did my stereo install. I paid $120 for the battery but labor was an all-in charge so I don't know what the battery install costed.
