Optima batteries are good, but the group size is different. I wanted something that would bolt right in without any modifications to either the battery hold-down or cables.

Just had my battery tested and it said i needed a new battery. After 7 years 8 months, I thought it would be best to replace the battery. I just bought Interstate battery for $90.00 from the local parts store. Would have been great to see how much longer the OEM battery would have lasted

Tesla teams with Panasonic
Panasonic will now be making batteries for Tesla Motors. I live pretty close by the Tesla factory (old NUMMI Toyota plant) I was thinking about stopping by to see if they can sell me a Panasonic Battery! :hungry:

I am replacing my OEM battery this weekend with an Interstate. Had my Runner in last week for an oil change, dealer said its only holding about a 75% charge. With winter coming, I don't want to chance leaving that one in.

Nice choice, didn't know Sears rebadged batteries to the odysseys. I actually picked up an Optima YellowTop a few weeks back as my battery was beginning to go. He also said that my voltage regulator was bad or was going bad....whatever that does.

Despite my slam on Sears in another thread regarding brake service, I wouldn't hesitate to put a Diehard battery in my truck if I got a good deal and it was close by.
I always had good luck with them when I used them. My most recent battery replacement on my car (which died last week) was an interstate.
The 4R battery was replaced at the dealership under warranty at my last free oil change - Nov '09 I believe. The original battery didn't quite make it 3 years. This one seems to be holding up fine, but if it dies before 3 years, I'll probably go Interstate there as well.

I know some people are crazy for their Optima batteries, but I can't justify the price. They start your car just the same as any other battery. I can see some situations that they have their advantage, but for the majority of the population who doesn't spend a lot of time off camber (or upside down) or in extreme climates you never get the benefit of an Optima.
For me my battery of choice is a battery made by Johnson Controls. That includes interstate, some die hards, and even some of the Wal Mart batteries. You have to be careful that many retailers will mix in Exide batteries into their product line. I would avoid an Exide at all cost.

I agree. How many people really need a Optima battery. I usually get 6-7 years out of my OEM battery. Then I buy what ever battery I can that's on sale. Sears ALWAYS has one of their Diehard batteries on sale. And that's usually the last battery I buy before I sell the vehicle (usually at 300k miles or greater). I don't see how buying an Optima is going to be any different (except that it costs more).

Consider looking at the DieHard Marine Platinum battery, it kicks ass. More than enough battery for our 4Runners.
I am still running my OEM Panasonic battery in my '05 and it is still running very strong. However, every time I take it to a shop they tell me that I should replace my battery. I try to hook my battery up to a trickle charger every few months to juice it back up (not because I experience problems, just to keep everything juiced up).
I've been running an Optima Yellow in my Jeep since 2002. It also sat on the floor of my garage for three years (2005-2008) without ever being charged or hooked up to anything. After three years, I hooked it up to the trickle charger for a few days, and it has been running perfectly since then. I usually throw it in my 4Runner when I go on trips and need to run other accessories.
