im about to buy an optima yellowtop D34 battery for my 02 runner. can you elaborate on the spacer needed please? this info would be helpful. i did a search on here, and i have browsed optimas website - i cannot find any info on a spacer that is needed.

if you call optima, they will provide it for free.

i dont have much more info because all ive done is research, havent done it myself.

go to www.yotatech.com and search for optima spacer... lots of info there.

i just measured my stock battery, it is the exact same specs as the D34. i will not need any spacers at all. i have an 02 4runner though, i dont know about the 03+
 
I am quite familiar with the Red and Yellow top Optima batteries. But for $120.00, I opted for the $49.00 Autozone battery, been running strong for 5 years now. For what reason would you use the Optima? I could see it if you were doing some serious rock crawling and getting into some wierd angles, but for the average wheeler, I would say save your money.

optimas are superior in MANY ways. i PERSONALLY choose this battery over others because it is deep cycle. Deep cycle means using the battery in an application that will typically discharge 60% to 70% or more of the batter y capacity. this way i can run electronics in my car with the engine turned off for longer periods of time.

also, other cool things about these batteries that optima claims, and also many people agree are;

that they are non spillable and are completely sealed. you can mount them in ANY position. they last longer than other batteries. they hold a charge longer than other batteries when your car just sits for long periods of time. much more resistant to vibrations. lower rate of discharge. lower internal resistance. This low resistance gives you more power in a smaller box, ability to recharge much faster, higher, cleaner voltage characteristics during discharge

not to mention they look cooler!

im sure this is true, but in order for a claim that this battery works better than the rest, Uhaul has to have a control - meaning, they have to of used other batteries under the same condition to compare to. im sure they have always used interstate just because either they have an account with them, got a good deal on them, or they have just worked from the start and never changed their ways. i mean, if it aint broke, dont fix it. but this isnt to say that their arent other better batteries. just a hunch - i DOUBT uhaul would, or ever has fronted the extra bucks to put optimas in their trucks and see how they work. and i dont blame them, businesses are all about the bottom line profit, which an optima would take away from :arrow:

i used to install at a local stereo shop and have done many custom stereos/video systems. ive also had sears batteries, interstate batteries, and optima batteries. nothing wrong with interstate, they work great. but if you want a deep cycle battery to run electronics off of, or a battery that wont spill and is vibration proof and will work in any mounted position for off road purpose, then optima is the way to go. :artist:

i did some research. they only require spacers to fit IF you get a different size (in actual measurement, not CCAs) battery than your stock battery. for example, if you get a smaller sized battery than what your stock battery is, you get this plastic piece spacer to keep it snug. i have been researching this the last few nights, and optima makes almost every stock size battery for the most common manufacturers cars, so you shouldnt need a spacer IF you buy the correct optima battery. if you go to optimas website they tell you the exact measurements of each battery they make. just get a measuring tape and measure your current battery so you can get the same size, this way you dont need a spacer. however, for the slim chance you do need one, you can find all of the info on these spacers at optimas website.

i just got a good deal on interstate from sams CLUB... for $54, im happy with it.. maybe ill try the 100 + optima battery on my CTS or something .... thx guys.. i dont think ill need HARDCORE battery...
