5 speed swap quetion
I have a 1997 and I did a 5 speed swap in it. kinda did the same thing as you but I have a check engine light. wondering if you did something about that. its all the shift sensors.... shit A, Shift B, and so on...hope for some info.

Yeah man, I took the bulb out of he dash! I'll probably get to all the little electrical stuff one day. Lots of plans for it when I get back.

I might be there for that. I'll be back in the states fosho! Got some lil thing to do to the truck, find a house and then go to GA for a couple weeks. I've got no schedule as of right now. Lots of possiblilities. I will be going wheeling and camping no matter what, I need a beer!

Good to be back HOME! Day one I had to replace the fan blade that disintegrated and the A/C belt that is just magically missing. Weird how these things happen when your truck sits idle for 7 months.... Didn't take long and it's nice to be driving this beast around again. I'm not going to do any heavy wheeling till I get my real tools out of storage, few weeks. I'm down for a Gold Lake trip if anyone else is interested.

Thanks guys! I just did the timing belt last week, all went well and she should be good for another 3 million miles LOL. Got a new radiator too for cheap insurance.
I'm thinking about putting carpet back in it. Gonna go with black. If I order the carpet for around $160 (ebay) will it just be carpet or come with the insulation? I mainly want it for noise and heat reduction.
Any other reputable companies that don't break the bank? I'm gonna have to cut it a bit for my custom seat brackets so nothing to fancy.

The rear bumper is a work in progress. This is the last addition from the shady dude I traded a motor for a rear bumper build. Says he's gonna finish it next weekend but I'll just finish it my damn self. The swing out took the entire weekend. It'll work for now but needs a sleeve at the pivot and a better lock down setup.
Other things to do:
Weld the fourth support lower support (done)
Sleeve and box in the pivot joint (done)
Jerry can platform
Mount the high lift
Angle the tire carrying arm forward right below the gusset to match the contour of the door. (done)
Put on a proper quick latch
Might even swap swing direction
The "lock down"
Already bent from swinging it out a few times with the 35" spare. This is where I'll do an internal sleeve and box it in.
Tossed some paint on it and the old wheel
So I'll cut through all but the front wall of the tube, bend it forward, fill and brace it to match the contour of the door. The bend will be right by the 4Runner emblem. Just the angle of the pic but the wiper will not be in the way.
Also got some "experimental" Ebay lights. They're 27w and $15 a pop. That's just a tad over 50 cents per watt, not bad China. They work great for the price. Thinking that these will be used for rock light and as spots on the future roof rack. Why not? they're only $15! I'll get some night time shots once I hit the trail, that's really the only place that they matter.

Couple issues addressed today.
Angle of tire.
Sleeved the hinge and welded the inner seams of the tabs. Also welded in the missing 4th lower support. Helped a lot but it's still no the best design ever. Like I said, it'll work for now.
No drop w/o tire where it would already sag an inch.
Still need to box it in for strongest fit.
This is the same sag with the tire on now as I had w/o it before. So, a drastic improvement.
Finally got to welding the last lower support on. I used Grade-A Goose Shit to stick them together. Fawkin breaker in this new house kept popping. 15amp with nothing but the 110 welder on it. Not all the machines fault. I haven't done this in almost a year. And the fan was on. And it's hot in here...

How gave those seats been treating you? Ive been thinking about replaving mine, and they seem like a very, reasonably priced option.

Seats are great. It's taken some adjustment to my custom brackets to get the height and stance right. Original bracket had me sitting up way too high. So far I've cut all four corners down evenly twice. Have the height as low as possible for the front but I'v got to lower the back feet an inch to get some back slope to the seat bottom. But the seats themselves are fine. Still comfortable supportive and nothing has broken.
