Bazooka Tubes?

I worked for years and several itterations to get a decent sounding system in the Cherokee. It has a pair of 6-inch Bazooka Tubes powered by a 300 watt amp with a low pass filter, which is also amplifying the front speakers.

I'd like to add more bass to the 4Runner's stock (non-JBL) system and wonder if an amplified Bazzoka Tube would be an easy addition or not. They have speaker level inputs, so the hardest thing would be tapping into the speaker wires (rear?) and adding a splitter. I had a speaker splitter like that in the old Nissan that I picked up from Radio Shack, that had inputs for 4 speaker wires and outputs for 8, with a fader control.

Any experience with a set up like this?

Single 8" or 10" Tube is what I'm thinking about. It's worked great in the Jeep and they're easy to remove to get out of the way or take out for vehicle repair. That's important since I had a nice set of behind-the-seat speakers stolen from the Nissan stealer during an exhaust manifold replacement. They did pay my insurance deductable but it was still a hassle.

Actually, there is a Scion harness that will work with your radio and connects directly to the 8 or 10 inch BTA 8100 or 10100 Bazooka series (not the 200) since the Scion and stock 4Runner head units have the same pin connector's on the back. The part # is in this thread. I'm thinking about getting one as well.

Thanks for the info. When the time comes I'll come back to this post and try that route. I'll also check with Crutchfield for options. Let me know if you do it and how it goes. I'm otherwise content with the stock sound system and I have a very picky ear for sound quality. I've installed and tweaked numerous car sound systems over the years and should be able to deal with any installation or wiring required. I'm not looking for big bass that will rock nearby cars, just a good well balanced sound.

Ive got the only Infinity BasslinkII installed in a 4th Gen on this board that I know of. Clean, crisp bass and takes up less room than a tube (about 1cu ft total)
