I need help from you guys. I have a 99 4wd 4runner and there is a wheel bearing type of noise that increases with speed coming from the front of the vehicle. So I've had both front wheel bearings replaced, but the noise is still there. Then my mechanic thought it might be the front carrier barlerings but he said those looked and felt good. Both of us are stumped. Anyone with any ideas??

if your sitting there you can rev up the engine it sounds fine.

your front diff fluid level is good?
ATF level is good and looks red not burnt?
Transfer case also fluid level is good?
power steering fluid level is also good - I can't imagine this would cause a grinding but...
I would agree with Mr. MStudt brakes are the next thing that comes to mind.
CV axles usually are clicky if they want to go.

Noise gets louder as vehicle speed increases. It definitely increases in frequency with the speed of vehicle.
Front diff fluid didn't look too good so I bought another one but my mechanic says the bearing in it are good
Just talked to my mechanic and he says the brakes aren't it. Says calipers are free

Either wheel hot after driving? More so than the other.

definitely sounds like its coming from the front but I will have to check the rears as well. At this point I'm open to check anything reasonable
Made the noise when I bought the vehicle with ok tires. I put 4 brand new tires on it. Noise didn't change any. Definitely sounds like a typical wheel bearing/grinding noise

That could indicate a caliper issue or a bearing issue.

Just check to see if you're leaking fluid from where the rear axle bolts to the housing. You see it running the back of the dust shield, and onto the tires. If this is the issue you'll also have a shake in the wheel.
