Became a two Runner household

Last year when I was leafing through the slick Toyota 4Runner flyer and drooling over the TRD Pro, my father-in-law looked over my shoulder and exclaimed, "That's a pretty good looking vehicle for a Toyota." This was late Spring 2016 and by May he had bought a 2016 Midnight Black Limited. I was a bit miffed as I was still waiting for my TRD Pro that eventually came in September.

It was fun comparing the luxury of his mall crawler to my more rugged off-roader. Turns out that his mall crawler was never a good fit for him.

Taking the Limited in for it's prescribed service, he walked the dealer lot and fixated on a shiny bauble of a Tundra 4x4 Off Road (1794). He had to have it.

Caught him just in time as he was trading in the Limited for the Tundra and worked the deal so now I have a white Runner Pro and a black Runner Limited sitting (barely fitting) in the garage. The wife is quite happy.

I have to admit that my TRD Pro was really the first vehicle purchase that I experienced absolutely no buyers remorse. It even occurred to me that getting another Runner would be cool though I really didn't think it would happen.

It happened...and it's all good.

Yep. Wife has a 16 white TP, and I have a 26 TP in silver. Umm, we are a super cute couple... [emoji15]

Any main differences you can think of between the two? I have a 2011 Limited and have been debating trading it for a GX460. Is the power difference noticeable? How about the ride quality? Seats? (I don't love the 4Runner seats).

Yep, the V8 is very nice, but remember it wants premium and it's a bit more thirsty. (totally worth it though...) Ride quality is clearly better in the GX, and much less road noise - it just feels like a heavier better built vehicle. I find the seats about the same, maybe even give comfort to the 4R - but I've always thought the 4R seats were very comfy. Nice to have a 8 way or whatever passenger in the GX. My GX is a premium, and the stereo sucks, that is about my only complaint.

Course every time I get back in the 4R after driving the GX I also cuss the lack of BSM. But I do prefer the rear door of the 4R to the barn door of the GX. Pluses and minus to both.

Quality of both has been very good, no complaints at all. This is my 3rd 5th gen T4R, put lots of miles on these. Second GX, had a 470 and it was great also - the seats in it were the most comfortable of all.

I'm going to pick up my 2018 4runner on Wednesday. I'm hoping that when I come home with it my wife likes it so much that she wants to get rid of her jeep and get one.
 
Funny. Now if someone would figure out how to migrate the comfort key from the Limited to the Pro I'd be happy.

Didn't realize that the TRD Pro did not have a RFID key. Thought all Toyotas had one before I purchased the thing.
 
We have two 2017 SR5s. And I just realized we have two of the same motorcycle (albeit 5 years difference) and the same bicycles, too. ****!

my 17 my offroad that i got in feb of this year, and then shortly after i got mine, the wife ran into problems with her pathfinder, and traded up into a 2014 limited.

Just became a two 4Runner household ourselves on Saturday evening! Here's my '18 TRD ORP nestled in next to my wife's '12 Limited once I got her home:

That is awesome, congrats on snatching up that limited before it got traded in. I will probably never be a 2 runner household as my gf loves Subarus, but I'm on my third 4Runner and absolutely am brand loyal, and absolutely loving my brand new month old 5th gen!
