i wouldnt of used primer at all, when they spray a bed liner in a truck bed they scuff it down to bare metal... then shoot it

yes, well at least the kind that shops use as it goes on at like 200 plus degrees

I really like the rustoleum bed liner spray. I can't find the thread at the time but someone compared the bed liners and dupicolor was close to the bottom if I remember correctly.

If possible it is best to spray it on bare metal. Otherwise make sure you scuff up the surface a lot.

Here are the steps I went through to do the front part of my hood after I taped off the area:
1. Scuffed it really good with a rough sandpaper and then went over it with a finer grit (300-600) and then again with a 1000 grit.
2. Cleaned it really well with a dish-washing detergent to remove any oils/etc that were left over.
3. Wore rubber/latex free gloves throughout the process to prevent putting back any oils from my hands.
4. Sprayed on a light coat of Rustoleum Bedliner and let it dry at least 30 minutes. Then sprayed the second coat a little heavier.
It seems to be holding up really well. I am doing another section of the roof near my sunroof now but haven't sprayed it yet. I am learning that prep takes the longest time but makes the job easier and better looking. I do agree with the kid that primer shouldn't have been used originally but since you did just scuff it really, really good. The first light coat will act as a primer of sorts for the heavier coat/s.

DUUDDE That looks great on your hood. I wanna do my rocker wall...but im just a little afraid to take sandpaper to the body of my car...

When I have used the bed-liner stuff on cage work I would make sure to wipe it down with a good degrease. I have had good success with the Rustolium bed liner.. Never primed it just a good wipe down maybe a scuff with a Scotch Brite pad..
Also the bumpers come with a fresh sanding from the DA so other then a couple of spots it should stick pretty good.. Things that I have seen mess with paint.. Oil, cold day, wet day, bad batch of paint..
