Been a while since I've been here. Here's an update.
Badwolf is running fine although she's over at Brandon's getting some work done.
- Clutch
- Tune-up
- Valve cover gaskets (and intake plenum gasket, naturally)
- Throttle body clean-out
- MAF sensor clean-out
- tie rod ends
- cracked vacuum lines replaced
- front sway bar bushings
- A/C service
Daughter has had her at school for the past year-plus, and when packing to come home, she tells me that the rear window (in the tailgate) won't go "all the way down." I figure it's the switch or the motor or a connection or SOMETHING. She "conveniently" forgets to tell me that she backed into a fire hydrant and the tailgate is dented. Didn't figure that out until we went out to get her. Knocked out the dent as best I could, and got the window working with some "innovative engineering."
For those who remember:
Finally got the emissions solved last summer; the P.O. who installed the headers never re-installed the EGR system - so OF COURSE it fails. My puzzle is that it passed when we first got the truck - he must have had all kinds of alcohol in that tank to make it blow so clean. We re-installed an EGR system with fabricated tubes (stock tubes don't work with the headers), and had those re-tightened when the tune-up was done.
The issue with the high idle was solved when I talked with another 4R owner who advised to check the idle screw. Done and done. This also corrected the "rev-brake-dip" I was experiencing. The fixed vac hoses will go further in fixing this problem.
So, in essence, she's looking more banged up but running better. A good trade for a 4Runner.
