Been tempted to buy a 5th gen

Wow! Been looking around and the prices for a USED 2015 SR5 Premium and Trail Premium are almost the same as a 2017! What gives? What is a good price for a used 2015 SR5P or TEP?

Welcome to the world of exceptionally high resale value. I'd buy new unless you want a 2013 or older.

I bought my wife a 2012 4Runner limited in pearl white last year, and I fell in love with how it drives that I bought myself A 2017 cement TRD pro January of this year and I really love it I didn't need Another vehicle payment but I said what the hell so now we have two 4runners

Since you own a Limited and TRD pro can you tell me which one rides better in everyday use such as pot holes, general suspension smoothness, handling etc.

I am beginning to look at "New" ones. Now have to do a ton of research on the 2017s. What's different from the 2015s.

Trail is no more - replaced by TRD Off-Road (now has TRD markings and badging). Same exact vehicle otherwise.

I really think they both have an excellent ride in everyday usage, but personally I think the TRD PRO rides really quiet and sits a lot higher than the limited.going through Potholes is really insignificant, personally the Pro isn't luxurious as the limited but because it sits a lot higher I think the ride quality is better. The reason I say that is because my wife didn't let me drive her limited so when I was able too I got hooked and that's the reason I bought the Pro.Hope that helps you.

Thanks for the info. I always thought my Limited rode a little harsh but I never had the opportunity to drive any of the other models.

You also think the ride could greatly differ since one is riding on 20's?

I personally dislike the 20" rims on my wife's limited I really think since there's less tire and more rim on hers than the Pro when coming onto potholes it does make it somewhat rough on the hit as opposed to the Pro but recovery is very quick and almost Not noticeable on the limited.Im really torn cause I love the creature comforts of the limited but love the look and ride of the Pro

It depends on the tire. I switch between the stock 20" tires and BFG Ko2 275/70/17 load range E tires. The stock 20s are less harsh than the 17s. A load range C tire would be better I would think.

If comparing apples to apples, a 20" P Brand X tire would give a harsher ride than a 17" P Brand X tire. The 20's will handle the curves better but the 17's will soak up the bumps better. This is assuming the tires are the same brand, type and load rating.

Ditch the factory all show and no go pizza cutters and move back to a 17 inch wheel. The extra sidewall tire dependent will give you all the Cadillac mooshiness you need. :jaw:

What about a used 2016 4R TEP with 6K mi if it is Corporate Fleet? Do you think it is worth buying?

Dang. All expensive replies. I know it's a large debate. Or a small one in my searches but if I did this I want just about all I can get as far as comfort goes. Is the trail or trail premium a better route than a PRO model? I of course like the pro. And I know the pro suspension is not a big deal just a nice change from factory. But if I had that I can't see doing much more lift. If I went trail I am sure I'll end up lifting a bit. I really do NOT want to take a new perfect driving rig and make it what I end up with now which is vibrations. Wobbles and whatnot. My OCD is getting a little tired of the past 10 years of jeeps and toyotas. Just looking for a nice DD then I'm not asked. Why the hell do you drive a 18 year old Toyota haha. We all know the passion of the answer but.

The TRD pro is a 4runner with a slight lift (I don't know how much more articulation you're getting out of its suspension, if any), more aggressive tires and a bunch of appearance modifications. If you want one because you like the way it looks, get it.

If you're planning on doing any sort of aftermarket work, just get a trail. The base suspension is surprisingly capable, and compliant, for on and off-road use. If you're going to install a suspension that will truly give you better performance over the stock setup, you'll have to look at Old Man Emu's, Fox, Icon's or something of similar quality. Just getting a spacer lift or cheap coil kit really doesn't do much performance-wise.

KDSS is nice if you plan on leaving the vehicle stock. If you plan on reworking the suspension, you can still have it but it's probably easier to rework the suspension without one.

Get a 4runner, trail or trd, and leave it stock for at least a few months of driving. Use it, abuse it, and then figure out what, if any modifications you need. FWIW, I've taken my stock 4runner all over the place through all kinds of terrain. Unless you're planning on doing some really lengthy and hardcore offroading trips, the stock setup is more than capable of getting you where you need to go. My 2 cents....
