Benevento hood deflector

After recently becoming a 1st time owner of a T4R, I found this site and the Benevento hood deflector. Well, I had to have one. I decided to go ahead and order from AutoSeattle even though I'd read a previous poster's problems with getting the correct deflector. Finally got it a couple of weeks ago & my husband just got around to installing it. It fits perfectly and I love it! Just thought I'd give the update in case anyone else was hesitant about ordering the Benevento from AutoSeattle - apparently the problem has been worked out.

Cool! I assume your T4R is an 06 or 07.

BTW i wanted to ask you, did you install the 2 round bumps that goes in the center of the hood underneath the deflector?
 
We did use the round bumps under the deflector - with a bit of hesitation though! I'd read somewhere on these forums that some folks had vibration noise that was corrected by placement of the bumpers. I kind of cringed with the thought of them sticking to the paint! Btw, have you had any issues with them???
 
Yeah, it is an '07 SR5 black w/sunroof. I wanted the Sport Edition but couldn't justify the extra expense - already spending more than I had intended. My previous vehicle was an Xterra so there was a little price difference with the 4Runner. Glad I went for it though!

I hesitated to put those round bumps on, but since the deflector was too close to the hood i just sticked it in there to have a gap in between.. no issues or whatsoever but i'm thinking of taking it out because it would be much easier to clean underneath
 
If you decide to take the bumpers out - let me know how it goes! I wanted to move one that I'd already stuck down but was scared to mess with it! Ha!

Btw, we just got back from a road trip to Cape San Blas, FL. I had read some posters having issues with vibration/noise from the deflector. Happy to report that we had no problems whatsoever even at interstate speeds.
 
Aww that sad... that's going to be a long wait

Nolen glad to hear that you never had issues with yours, same here.. i don't think i will be taking out those little round bumps from the hood, i noticed that the deflector leans on those specially when weather is hot

I been thinking of getting this deflector also but I was wondering with the very low profile if it actually deflects anything? How did it do on your trip, still bugs on the windshield?
 
I can't really say for sure as that was our first trip of any length in the 4Runner. I do think it helped though as the windshield was pretty clean even though we were in mosquito/dog fly infested areas anywhere off the beach. Have to admit, I really got it cause I liked the way it looked (and the added hood protection)!

And, Blindside, I agree about the bumpers - don't think I'll mess with mine either......

UPDATE

Well, another e-mail from AutoSeattle and they say now it will take 6-8 weeks from the manufacturer. Great... :upset:

and btw...are there any other vendors who sell this? Just wanted to see if anyone else has this in stock.

Oh wow that's quite a wait.. you might wanna try toyota dealerships in canada, i know member SPUD72 has one and he got it from toyota.. check out this thread

I took mine off, i had to wax my rig over the weekend.. i'm thinking of selling it since i bought a color keyed grill i didn't like the combination that much so if anybody wants it just let me know well make a deal happen..;):
