bent rear axle housing

So it appears that the rear axle housing is the weak link on 4th gen 4runners. It didn't take much let me tell you. Toyota needs a recall on these. Can anyone point me in the best direction to find a replacement housing or entire axle that is stronger than these factory ones. A cheapest to more expensive list of options would be greatly appreciated. Thanx everybody.

I don't think that it's common for them to fail. I've not heard of any others. If it were me, I'd get an OEM replacement from a junk yard or car-part.com.

That's just me, obviously.
 
dont know if the fj axle is the same but it would be a great time to get a locker if you wanted one
 
I was off road in a wash and didn't see it was washed out ahead. was probably going to fast but I've done dummer stuff and never bent an axle housing. Internally they say its fine. my ebay uca's held up but the back bucked and came down kinda hard. maybe 40mph but I doubt it. Its 4x4 so i treat it as such and dont play baja boy but I was in 2wd @ the time. You wouldn't even know from driving it. I just realized a couple weeks ago my rear tires are wearing on the inside. Toyota couldn't find anything the two times I took it in to be checked, so I took it to network alignment and within a half hour got the bad news.
