Best aux. lighting for ARB Tacoma bumper

Just looking for opinions and experiences with different brands and models of fog/spot lights on their ARB bumpers. I''m getting 2 put on in between the headlights, and I'm talking to to IPOR about cutting some 4" holes in the ARB's lower section and installing some fog lights down there as well, a la Shrockworks style.

Piaa 510 ATP (all terrain pattern) in bumper, then some lightforce 170s on top, that's what I plan to do. Lightforces are extremely durable, and have an adjustable focus.

Lightforce 240's!!

dude those things are huge!!! looks like a porn stars fake..... you get the idea....
lol

i thought about cutting some holes in my arb for some more lighting but decided
that i didn't want to mess up the powder coat quite yet, just consider how much of the coating your going to lose from cutting holes in the bumper and also don;t forget you will most likely need to weld some tabs to the bumper to support the lights.

also since your modding the arb why not cut 2 small holes in the lowest part of the bumper and put some of those oval driving/fog lights?

the huge lightforce and the hella's are no good for road driving for the most part i'm pretty sure you'll get pulled running those things on the freeway or hiways, so it would be nice to have something to throw more light on the road when you need it,

i don't know about you but i lost the stock fogs when i got the arb and it dramatically cut down the amount of light i was throwing down road.

it's a shame you already settled on the arb, if your heavily modding it, it may have been better to go with the OL bumper or something that already has the profiles cut into it, at least this how i feel at the moment with my arb and the options and expandability to it, either way though i'm still stoked that the arb is far better then the stock bumper and still looks cool and sets my truck apart from the 1000's of other 4runners on the road (maybe not some much here but i never see another ARB 4runner on the road in town, NEVER)

I used to run Hella 500's with the fog pattern before hitting this guy in the Volvo. I can't imaging not using some type of aux. lighting when driving my 4R. The stock headlights suck (especially since I've added HID's [not really-- nut you get what I'm saying]) and I won't be caught dead on the road without 4 headlights on. I didn't have a "law" problem when I used the fog pattern 500 housings, I'm sure that I';; be fine if I stick with "fog" pattern housings. I'll have to take a look behind the bumper once it's installed and have a talk with Cam down at IPOR about any modifications, if any, I'll wanna do to the work. Lightforces are cool, but they are pretty expensive. I'm not a fan of PIAA lights (they look a bit cheap IMO), and not a fan of KC's or IPF's. I might just end up splurging for Lightforce 170's. 240's are too large for my liking and will block the grill too much.

cool good thinking! And nice to know your experience with the hella's!
maybe i'm just being a big girl about getting pulled over, i shall think i'll start running them when i need them on the road and see what happens,, as i know what your saying my stock lighting is sub par when i'm relying on the guy behind me to light up the road....

lol, it's good to see you at least know what you don't want that defiantly makes things much easier! i'm excited to see what you end up coming up with your bumper and the rest, you got alot going on right now and probably like you i'm getting antsy to see what happens! lol

I saw a Tacoma with three Lightforce 240's and they were huge. Took up most of the bumper.

I would look into running four lights on the bumper. Maybe two driving and two fog. I think doing the HID conversion to the Hellas is pretty nice. Saves a bunch of money, but still throws a lot of light on the road.

only prob is you cant hook em up to your brights. thats how i have mine and i love it. great if you are on backroads regularly at night. you can see deer and most everything else from wayyyyyy far away.

---i have the hella 500's on my ARB and like them, had them for 3 years, and just put HID 5000k's in my headlights. i wish there was some way i could maybe match the colors of the heads and driving lights. the color diff bugs me a bit. i would put HID's in the Hella housings but they just take too long to warm up for my type of usage.

If you had four lights (2 driving, 2 fogs) you could put the HIDs in the fogs so that it's really bright right in front of you and then leave the driving lights with the stock Halogen bulb (or upgrade it to a 100 watt bulb). Then you could still wire up the driving lights to come on with the highs.

how different are the 55w and 35w HID's? sorry to jack the thread....ill PM Clemsonfan

cordrayl1--I am trying to do what you did--but I am having trouble finding a hi-beam power line to use for the trigger.I greatly appreciate any advice or tips that you can pass on. I am trying to avoid a wire tap on the red/yellow wire--and it is too hard to get to.

My H-500s are mounted on my ARB and the 550 fogs are mounted under the bumper--not ideal but it works. I go off road but not rock crawling.

Thanks again for any help.
