Best brake pad?

Weird. I still have no complaints, no noise or excessive dust that I can see. Maybe you got a bad set or something?

We drive around on the weekends almost exclusively using her truck (or is it a car because it's a Highlander?) and it's horrible. I have to do the rear pads soon, so I will have to "fix" the fronts. Had I known that the OEM pads were only $12 more than what I paid for the Wagner brand I would have gone with OEM for hers.

I'm in the same boat. I'm about to do the 13WL brake upgrade. I picked up the calipers for $75 (total) at a local junk yard and a rebuild kit from Toyota. I think I've settled on OEM rotors. That seems to be the best bang for the buck. But, I'm torn on which pads to use.

Some good long term reviews from some of y'all that have had your pads for awhile would be nice.

Another advocate for the Thermoquiets; I put them on a friend's 4runner three years ago and when he and his wife gave it to her little brother, I would say the dusting was marginal at best after 20,000 miles. We did get new rotors as well.

I use Hawks (got them for a steal at the time) and initially the dusting was awful. Now, just marginal. Good stopping power. Would I buy them again? No. I would probably go back to OEM.

Use Sil-Glyde for pins and at contact points and call it a day.

I had the OEM pads on her when I bought her with 92K. At 135K I needed rotors BAD, so I got new rotors and pads from AutoZone... The OEM pads looked brand new at almost 50K miles...

When I needed to change my pads on my Corolla, I got OEM Prostops from Pepboys. I need to change my 4R's pads now, so I got the OEM Prostops for the truck. They were less than half the price of the Akebonos (the other OEM option). I'm hoping they perform as well as my Corolla's Prostops. Now for the rain to stop...

im running EBC slotted and dimpled rotors cause my napa rotors warped so i upgraded to the slotted rotor.

Your dimpled/slotted rotors may be the cause of your pads wearing quicker than you expected.

I'm running 13WE calipers (199mm) with Akebono ACT812 ceramic brake pads. It's been ~10K miles since the upgrade - no issues so far. Of course change from stock calipers to 13WE increased the stopping power big time - so hard to say how much impact those brake pads had.

I never did, but that truck is gone, pads had like 35k on them i think when i sold it.

Your dimpled/slotted rotors may be the cause of your pads wearing quicker than you expected.

They have only been on for a few months... Not enough time imo to eat pads like this, plus when I installed those rotors the pas were already down quite a bit....

My fronts make a slight almost grinding sound. This is intermitent and almost feels like pad rubbing. No oscillations or loss of power and no dust! I was going to change and discovered they were some sort of green pads with plenty of meat left, 3/8"+ so like new!

I read about EBC's and see they make a green as you state. Is there a way to tell if these are the EBC's? ANyone else make a green pad?

This is the first I heard of someone running those pads. Is the "grind" normal? [Grind is an exaggeration just to differentiate from squeal.]
Should I remove and re-lube the contacts?

I ask because it's just as easy to replace if poor pads.

Not sure on other companies making green pads but if you remove the pads on the back of the EBC greenstuff have the EBC logo on the back..... that is a lot of work for checking to see if they are EBC... I would say try disc brake quiet from any auto parts store that should help with the squeal.

Ahh okay. I previously debated getting drilled/slotted as well but was turned away by how many reviews that said they ate pads quicker than normal, so that's were I was coming from.

im sure they do, but the fact that these pads that i have now didnt last long to begin with idk, im looking for a viable alternative... -really looking at the EBC pads, as im sure they will work great with the EBC rotors, kinda like they were made fore each other you might say... idk

I'm bumping this. Does anybody know WTF would cause this? I only have 2,000 miles on these pads since installation a year ago and that stupid noise hasn't changed. Perhaps the hardware is bad? I'm about to just exchange them at Advance Auto to see if I got a bad set. I could be coming to a stop sign and when I press the pedal I hear a single "clack" from the front wheels. It's definitely the pads because this noise started when I got them changed.

Im sure your aware of the anti-rattle springs on pads? If missing or not in right the pads will move around until brake pressures applied then they shut up. Its more of a rattle when driving over bumps, through holes ect...and not what your discribing but may be the culprit if the springs not in correct?? Turning should'nt matter but if your letting brake pressure off after turning it may allow the pads to slide or clatter a bit??
Not many brake sounds are related to steering changes? It is weird for sure...Best I can offer, sorry.
