I ended up with this one.

Thanks for the info. I was looking for something to put my phone, so I could easy look at the screen to see who is calling or check the map. I used to have a mount on the top of the dash but in California sun the phone is getting so hot that it shuts down (not fun when you depend on the navigation from your phone)

I'm going to pull the trigger on this Garmin mount - the phone holder is mounted on a ball so it will fit.

I ended up with this one. ...
The cupholder mount squeezes into the cupholder very tightly and there is virtually no shaking around, despite the relatively heavy weight of the Garmin. It works great for me.

TI'm going to pull the trigger on this Garmin mount - the phone holder is mounted on a ball so it will fit.

The "thing" arrived and quite soon I realized that cupholder hole in my SR5 is much bigger than shown in your picture. So the "thing" is too small because in order to grab the capholder it has to be extended all the way making the fit very wobbly. I ended up with putting a hard foam between capholder and the "thing" and that made good fit. While driving the arm is flexing a little bit (of course) but very manageable (I wold say the amplitude of flexing is less than 1/4 inch). The place for the phone is good (no more heat and glare from the sun) and I still have access to air controls. It would be better if the arm was just a bit shorter, but you can't have all :ballchain:

I have two cupholders, one has liner (I guess the other one is missing - never noticed that). However installing the mount inside the liner made it even worse - the whole thing is bouncing inside the hole.

What I ended up making my own "liner" out of closed cell foam weather seal. It is much more stable than with rubber cupholder liner.

Ram mount....Love this thing. I"m using the aluminum rod and single socket arm. I've got it butted against the console so it doesn't shake or vibrate whatsoever.

Can you show some photos from the other side? (Passenger side) ... Of the mount. Thx

It has no bottom. So just leave a channel so you can reach the 12v

I'm suddenly reminded how much it annoys me that there's so little space for storage in the cargo area. There's a 10x15" elastic net on Amazon, but I think that's too tall for the wheel wells. Might have to experiment.
