Best headlight bulb? LED or HID?

Just been skimming and it seems like the xenon bid are the way to go for a 16+ T4R..I'm new and just picked up a 2018 off road and wanted to make a lighting switch to either hid or led and it's looking like hid might be a better option

We're big fans of putting HIDs in the Low Beams on newer Toyotas, like the H11 Xtreme HID Kit. Go with the 4300K bulbs for the brightest, whitest, most OEM-HID look. They are a dramatic upgrade from the stock H11 halogens, and with your projector-style Low Beam housings they make a huge difference.

No CANBUS required for the Low Beams or Fog Lights on the 2015 T4R. You would only need them for the High Beams, and only if your 9005 High Beam Bulb also doubles as your DRL.

I did 35w DDM HID in Low Beam, DDM Sabre LED in High Beam, and LED in fogs. HID lows are better than halogen, but not crazy bright. LED's in high beams are really bright.

DRL delete mod FTW as LED Highs flickered with DRL on and I didn't like the look of it anyway so modded immediately.

I went with XenonDepot HID hit in 5K. No need for a relay power so wiring is easy. Just drill a 1" hole in the dust cover and secure the compositors under the trim on the finders. They match the Philips Extreme LED fogs!! Key point to these LEDs is that there is no fan motor to fail. The fog lights are in an are that is prone to dirt so just a heat sink makes these LEDs ideal.

Trying to decide between hid and led for my 2018 off road..I do mostly city driving so was leaning towards hid so the lights won't get drowned out by the city lights with an led..what kid would you suggest?? Looking at one from diode dynamics and xenon depot and one from hid extra which I believe are the razir hid kits

I'm new to this idea of changing the headlights to brighter bulbs. The 2015 T4R headlights are not the brightest bulbs in the box. If I can't see far enough down the road I simply slow down. :high5:

Do we need the 9005 ballast kit and bulbs for the high beams?

Does this ballast replace an OEM ballast already in the car?

I would recommend going with a LED kit for your high beams instead of HID since HID lights have a warm-up period.

Because the 4Runner doesn't have any HID lights then there is no ballast.
