best HIDs?

I ordered some HID's from DDM tuning, and I love the light, but I'm having issues with one of them.

What are you all running, and how reliable have they been?

DDM has been very helpful with wanting to exchange them out, but I don't know if I want to stick with them, especially since I have to pay to ship their defective part back.

I ran XenonDepot HIDs in my 14 and when I finally decide to pull the trigger on the new truck I will be going back to them. The other ones never gave me trouble in the 3 years they were on the truck

Same here. I read the Philips are warmer which people like. Possibly brighter too. But I like the more white appearance the 5000k offers. Plenty bright for me and haven't complained since.
You also don't need the canbus for the lowbeams if I remember right.

No issues here. This June 13, I'll have them on for a year now. Knock on wood!

Same for me. Preferred the whiter light of the 5000K and no, you do not need the canbus for the low beams.
 
I just bought the Philips HID kit from xenon depot. Did you guys use the direct power relays that come with the kit or just power through the factory wiring.

Factory wiring is fine for that setup, just did mine 2 weeks ago without it. Looks and works great.
 
I've used Morimoto Elite HID kits for the past decade, never had an issue. Also make sure you're running a relay harness to properly power the ballasts
 
I picked up the Xenon Depot Volt Kit in 5k temp. Love them. Got them for under 90 on sale and are worth every penny. Not sure if the more expensive kit is worth double the price. Time will tell.

I've had the Xenon Depot Xtreme HID kit since January. It's been flawless as far as no flickering or ballast issues. I got it with the Philips 4300k bulbs.

However, the one issue I've had is the beam shaking over bumps in the road. My OCD can't handle it. The bulbs are secure but I've traced the problem down to the headlight housing. There's just enough play when going over moderate bumps in the road to cause the housing to move 1 or 2 millimeters which causes the beam to move a noticeable amount when shining down the road. I had the same issue with a TRS retrofit in my FJ before. I really like the output of this kit but the beam shaking is driving me crazy. It probably doesn't help that I have E-rated tires and an upgraded, stiffer suspension.

I've seen a few people here report this problem. I can only really see it when it's really dark out with little light pollution. It seems to be more common on the Tacomas; there's a video on YouTube somewhere. Obviously, this is not Xenon Depot's fault. Like I said, they and their product has been great, and there are many happy customers out there without this issue.
